Interesting. It appears the Button - Hamilton relationship isnt as strong as I thought

Apart from both families going out for dinner with when they first got together, their relationship is entirely professional - and in fact the best example amongst any team in my opinion. Button's itinerary does not afford him the luxury of extra time to mentor Hamilton away from the circuit, although I'm certain he'd be quite happy to offer advice in the bizarre scenario that it be asked for. And that is all he's said. It does not preclude the possibility of being friendly and helpful when they meet at each race.

The author of the article you have linked to is paid to write stories that get people talking. And when people talk, the story often takes on a distorted slant - leaving the author who provoked it with a glass of Champagne and a wry smile!

;)

There are some journo's out there that are just begging for the Hamilton/Button relationship to crumble. Any hint that there is a crack and they'll have a crow bar in it quicker than you can say 'Fernando is faster than you'.

If they can't get what they want, they'll cut an interview, remove the context of what's been said and apply their own... just like typical tabloid media.

Murdoch? BBC?
…Regardless of the substance of Forza's link (above), one finds it increasingly difficult to see a distinction between the two.

Lewis Hamilton's fellow racers have asked to discuss some of his controversial driving this year in a meeting with FIA race director Charlie Whiting at the Japanese Grand Prix.

Suzuka pilots meet to discuss Whiting FIA delegate on "bravado" by the Englishman's McLaren after the events in Singapore
Reviewing several times the sequence of the episode involving Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa at the Singapore Grand Prix, that the contact between McLaren and Ferrari Brazilian's English is really hard not to consider it a simple racing incident . Hamilton hits the front wing of McLaren left the right rear tire of the Ferrari of Massa , which forced the Brazilian to pit and garage. The fact, indeed the " nasty business "as defined the English critics , has sparked not only the furious reaction mass - "Lewis does not use your brain" - but a series of controversies involving other drivers and two former world champions Niki Lauda and Jackie Stewart . The first said the incident saying: "I do not understand why one with the talent of Hamilton to be so stupid every time." Jackie Stewart was instead restricted to the view that "If Lewis wants to be a great driver, must think more" . The opinion of the great Scot is probably the most balanced . The Hamilton colleagues have now announced a meeting at Suzuka Grand Prix at Suzuka, with the delegate of the International Automobile Federation Charlie Whiting. will be the topic of the meeting " bravado "of English in Malaysia , in Monte Carlo , in Montreal, Silverstone , Hungaroring in Belgium and, of course, in Singapore . Although this latest episode is just a stunt . But have the courage , the pilots, to ask the FIA to take action against '"Obama" in Formula 1? It does not like the McLaren , which is closing ranks around the its pilot. Martin Whitmarsh , the head of the British team, said: " Lewis is probably an aggressive driver, but he can use his head. The charges against him are not right. He is young and is still learning. But, make no mistake, he will win more championships. " Beyond the general considerations, especially against Hamilton , but there is a doubt who is coming to many: Is he not that English is the so-called because it is a fast driver? Come to think better, you want to see that things are just like that . what do you think?

Personally I'm glad that the drivers wish to discuss this with the FIA. Hamilton's driving this season has been reckless and since the penalties have no effect on him, something else must be done to eradicate the dangerous driving. Hamilton doesn't use his brain and he never learns - the FIA must set an example because his driving should not be tolerated. I believe the FIA should give Hamilton a one race ban.

What are your thoughts on this?

My thoughts are that they are overreacting and need to shut up and get on with it. It's not like he's ramming people off the road ala Senna or Schey. Most of the time he's just been taking a dump on his own race anyway.

When did racing drivers get so pansy?

I'll leave the complaining to the fans, but the punishments to the FIA.

Maybe punishments need to make more of an impact when a "racer" breaks them, and to be far more consistent when dealing them out. They should pick 1 group of drivers as race stewards for the year and stop rotating it so we might stop getting rules going one way for a driver and another way the next race.

I just feel certain drivers arn't being punished enough or consistent enough for that matter.

Massa always seems to be involved quite a lot too.

Should they look at his driving too?

Can't have smoke without fire etc etc etc

So lets see!

What drivers will be complaining to Charlie come next weekend about Lewis?

Massa, Alonso, Maldonado = Obviously!
Webber, Petrov, Di Resta = Maybe?
Kamui, Rubens = Unlikely?

It's just Massa having a girlie whinge to deflect the fact he is not doing a good job at Ferrari.

There are certain other veteran drivers who's standards have been called into question just as much as Hamilton's...........
