I don't see problem it worked for Barcelona if we dominate possession the same way controlling the game with fluid movement & one touch passing other teams won't get a look in, in years to come they might start talking about QPR in the same vein Now where did I put that other bottle of wine
Spot on - small is beautiful if you play to that strength. BY KEEPING THE BALL ON THE GROUND AND AVOID THE GIANTS. Too often in the past I've seen the ball lumped up into the air in the box time after time after time. It got particularly frustrating in the Matt Smith and BFG days when they had been substituted by players at least a foot less.
Too many dinosaurs in this country worshipping the big, athletic players and forever deriding the smaller, usually far more gifted players. You hear it on here too. Thankfully, coaching in this country has moved on a lot, but there's still a big obsession with 'work rate' and 'athletic prowess'. There's a place for all of course, but thankfully many of the better players these days don't have to be giants.
That is the key element, far too often we give the ball away cheaply and are punished. We did improve last season dominating sides who allowed us to play but against sides who pressured us we were often found wanting. Eze's ability to create something out of nothing was the difference between safety and the bottom six so Chair will be under pressure to fill that big gap...
Comparisons to ball playing and possession teams in the world's top divisions are pretty irrelevant. It's incredibly difficult to keep the ball in the Championship as most teams set out to chase down when the opposition are on the ball and there isn't the quality of players around to neutralise that. You need height in the team to provide options to help counter that kind of pressing and is the reason a carthorse like Matt Smith has made a good living at this level. And don't get me started on the importance of set pieces...
True. But even good ball playing teams, such as Arsenal under the golden days of Wenger, had hard-crunching players as Patrick Viera to balance the skills of Berkamp and Henry. That team was very heavy on the yellows and I guess every team needs to be balenced and to play their style, and be faithful to those values.
Think you have all misunderstood my post. Small ball playing players playing on the ground...love them and we have excelled at that last season...Warbs loves them too But no one tells the other teams that...some one has told them we dont like crosses from free kicks from marauding wingers or from corners. "Send in the ball" and QPR cannot defend against big tall strong forwards... We have a couple of CB but everyone else in the team (except Cameron) is minute. Remember saying that we sent Matt Smith (the tall not the small Citeh loanee) on at the end of matches to help the defenders...not the attack
Someone is saying we will have 2 new additions Thursday/Friday next week and one will be very good. I take with a pinch but the fella was right last time.
Someone is saying Father Christmas will arrive this year with a great present for you. I hope that your ITK source is correct on both counts, but is there any more specific information on who? I am sure there will be signings in the best days / weeks Let’s see who and what they will be.
Without doubt there should be incomings & sooner the better, very short of experienced players looking at that side Saturday
