I don't mind players who are up their own backside, in fact I think we need more like that. If he's the type to be on the piss constantly and do the bare minimum on and off the pitch then that's a problem but I don't think that's the case.
Not if his attitude is a bit **** it isn't. And the fact that a player who is no doubt one of the best attacking players at this level has had no offers certainly seems to suggest that clubs are wary for some reason.
Worth pointing out that none of Garbutt, Maddison and Fraser have a club yet. I think there’s a game of chicken being played over wages frankly between clubs and agents over the new salary cap. Eventually the player will have to accept less or the club have to take the risk. Unfortunately there’s no real need for anybody to do that until end September. So we need to be patient.
I think he might have to lower his wage demands as we now have the joys of a salary cap. Only way that doesn't happen for him is a Championship club or a move abroad comes off. Be interesting to see where he ends up mind as he is a good player.
Agreed. Or, agents are telling players to wait as the believe the salary cap will be over turned, and then the agents and players gain the power when negotiating.
I think the salary cap has played into Donald's hands so he doesn't have to pay too much, cannot hear anything from the club about challenging the ruling
Not sure any clubs will directly challenge the wage cap. Can see it being the PFA, with possible legal help from some clubs, that will go for it. And the PFA gave the EFL till the end of this month for arbitration/consultation so see what happens next week.
exactly. If we had agreed for instance a £10k per week deal with Garbutt which was withdrawn once the cap came into place, he’s got a right decision on his hands if being offered £5k per week elsewhere, knowing that the cap may be withdrawn in a few weeks. It suits him to wait and see. Parkinson is 100% doing the right thing in waiting to make signings and filling up spaces, as frustrating and unideal as it is
What a waste that would be. I could understand New York, Miami or Any of the Californian teams like. Not a bad life that. They have salary caps as well though and I doubt he’d be above what we can pay there.
