No one fires a weapon with the intent of wounding ,that's only in films I'm afraid ask yourself this , in that split moment which arm would you have chosen? or which leg and why ( there's very few recorded incidents of someone holding a hand gun with their feet )
One round can kill a person so one or 7 into the torso ?, he could have shot him in the back of the head , now that would have been seen as an execution .
Yes it does sound disproportionate but the effect could be the same , a dead or severely wounded person. He's still alive so that being said he could still have shot the officer even with 7 rounds in him ( it was 4 which hit him) At the end of all this perhaps Jacobs and many others should consider they actions before putting them selves at the risk of events like this happening but no its never their fault .
If the copper is proven to have acted unlawfully then he should in a civilised society being punished , the trouble is the anarchy we're seeing currently in the US ( and to some extent in the early summer in this country) then all laws go out of the window which imo is exactly what BLM and other maxist groups want
As Mary T. Lathrap once wrote:
" Just walk a mile in his moccasins
Before you abuse, criticize and accuse.
If just for one hour, you could find a way
To see through his eyes, instead of your own muse" <cheers>

You seem to know a lot about this Matthew, so can you answer me this, was a gun the first weapon of choice? Knightstick/ Tasar would have been more effective in the 4 seconds it took all 3 to move from 1 side of the car to the other? Plenty of opportunity to incapacitate before unloading 7 bullets into his back, no? Just another POV/respectful challenge. (See I have changed).

Given the current climate couldn’t the officers read the room?

Not sure about being knowledgeable but I did have training way back in the last century. I believe he was tasered prior to him reaching the car , there is an image floating around purporting to be him carrying a knife prior to reaching the car so maybe the cop show this and was waying up his options .I don't know if there are voice recordings ,that may have indicated to the copper Jacobs intent . I agree he should never have got as far as the car as the police appeared to have been slow to react , a K9 would have been another option but it wasn't there so basically it was down as most things are in these situations a personal decision , you can train as much as you like and bear in mind a large percentage of beat coppers never have to deal with situations like this but training can never completely replicate real life.
    ps you've changed .

Thanks for the additional detail. I see and read a lot about this and other incidents such as this from both perspectives, and I just think, in this instance, the decision to pause, then use a weapon with deadly force was simply tone deaf.
    But I know nothing obvs.
*changed for the better I would hope Matthew

I don't need to put my hand in the fire to know the outcome, and I have watched the video at length numerous times, the cop is at fault and I will be very surprised if he continues as one............<ok>

The cops are trained not to shoot to kill but incapacitate over here - but psychologists say that the reaction time is so small reflex takes over - but if nothing else the cop who shot him 7 times must be an idiot if he didn't even think of the consequences. I'm not a supporter of any one movement but I'm a big supporter of Toronto Raptors basketball - and they have some outspoken players who talk sense about how until the reflex changes then this will continue - problem is no-one seems to know how to change the reflex. I've driven around half of the states in the last 12 years and anyone who thinks racism and segregation is gone needs to take a drive - even if it's only economical or political segregation

I’ve done a little travelling in the US and it is an eye opener. I took a wrong turn down in Miami and ended up in a very deprived area, it was the first time I’ve really been scared, Mrs Never was in full meltdown mode, I managed to get back to a bit of normality. That could have been a very short honeymoon.

Few years before that, in Orlando with the lads, we meet up with a few people my mate knew that were out there at the same time. We were pissed and stopped off at a petrol station, I got out to stretch my legs and wandered off, god knows where I was, I was eventually found and one of the lads told me I was luck to be alive as it was a terrible neighbourhood.

Drove through Queens in NY and boy that is a deprived area. You could see that there was no investment, roads were poor etc etc.

One of the lads I know went to Durban With his girlfriend, meet a couple who then went for a walk along the beach, they were assaulted and robbed. Next day the police come to the hotel for them to do a ID parade they identified the men. Next day they were in court and let’s say they couldn’t identify them, they had ha a hiding, they got jailed for think it was 10 years, now that’s justice for you.
