He's being priced out of a move. Napoli have set a ridiculously high valuation on him so it's puts off prospective buyers.

You can argue that VVD wasn't considered a good defender until he moved to Liverpool.

True but vvd was 26? When he moved to Liverpool and just getting into his prime. Not 29 with possibly only a couple years left.

don’t get me wrong not saying he’s a bad defender, just that if someone hasn’t moved by then have to question are they really top level?

I always don’t get why many fans apply this 30 year age as a decline age with how modern sport science has evolved.

Look at Lewandowski, Milner, Ramos and Vardy. If you eat well, avoid the booze you should be able to play to a high level well into your mid thirties.

Yep. Reaching thirty was the typical turning point in careers twenty years ago (who remembers Les Ferdinand moving to Spurs for £6m when he was thirty and the world was in shock?) but players regularly play well into their thirties nowadays.

Later thirties depends on their playing style and how they've looked after themselves.

This is true, £75 million for virgil seemed very big money for a cb, Napoli have consistently asked for more for koulibaly. He's never kicked a fuss up or look agitated for a move either.

I'd agree He hasn't, but its fairly clear that his agent has been desperate to get him a move for a number of years.

Smoke and fire seems to fit.

Agent get a fair bit of money when players move dont they? Seem to take ever expanding fees.

I do wonder if they just test the water as a matter of course, something to keep them occupied. In saying that 99% of rumour and speculation is horse **** made up by people "in the know". Probably comes as a suprise to both player and agent.

The reports seem to suggest that he actually wants to leave this time, and it’s not merely a political game.

The money necessary to make it happen might end up precluding a move, but I think Barca hanging to him in those circumstances would be a mistake.

IF the president resigns, he will stay is the message being rolled out to some outlets. Am not sure how much more political you can get tbh.

Agree that this could get quite protracted and messy, which would not be good for either party.

‘Barcelona president Bartomeu would resign to keep Lionel Messi‘

Messi winning? or Bartomeu knows he will leave so bluffing?

intriguing this one

Arsenal's hopes of landing Thiago have been boosted after Bayern Munich confirmed there has been no contact from frontrunners Liverpool. The Spaniard is of interest to the Reds and Manchester City however French reports earlier this week claimed that Arsenal were also in the running.
