Other than wearing a mask in order to protect others I have no other connection to Covid 19 whatsoever. Do you think it is 'cheating on the people' to want to bring a pandemic to an end as quickly as possible ? And don't come over with this crap of it all being a hoax, and that there is no pandemic - ask the nurses in the front line or the families of those who have died whether that is the case. If this is a 'hoax' then it is one which every single health authority in the World has played along with, along with every single government (including China) - a hoax of this scale is simply not possible, nore is their any motive behind it which could unite so many different actors. The only thing you have to offer against the unanimous evidence of 99% of the experts, and all World governments is a few YouTube videos - apparently only they are in possession of the real truth. To be fair on the undesirable town of Middlesbrough and the city of Bradford (you're really living it up), it's much the same everywhere I go. My mrs keeps saying that people (a) think its dissapeared, (b) doesnt apply to them or (c) just dont give a ****. I dont want to wear a mask in the petrol station but I do it out of respect for other people. I see people daily not giving a **** and I'm meeting more and more people who have not too dissimilar views to this butthuber guy. You dont lock a country/the world down for nothing. This virus is all too real yet people are acting in the total opposite way.
I've been back in the UK for a few weeks on holiday. For the first two weeks, in a sleepy Suffolk town by the coast. People were very respectful of the rules, all wearing masks and keeping their distance. Then I came to London. I counted on our first (and probably only) trip on the tube and even though our carriage was very quiet for a central line train heading into London, 50% of the passengers had no masks and they were letting their kids climb all over the place. Central London was not as busy as usual, but the main thing missing were the hoards of tourist groups. People were still shopping, sitting pretty close in Trafalgar Square and eating in busy restaurants. Afraid we did a day in central London and decided to stay out west for the rest of our time. Afraid I can now compare the difference between the response in Paris and London, and Paris wins hands down.
Here in South Oxfordshire I find that most people are sticking to the guidelines now. I rarely see anyone without a mask in shops, petrol stations etc. Most people are respecting social distancing advice too. It seems that it's the bigger towns and cities, especially further North, that are either unwilling to carry out the instructions or too thick or selfish to do so. I'd add that, whilst I agree with all the restrictions, coupled with an opening up of the economy as much as possible (an incredibly difficult task), I very strongly feel that the NHS needs to be fully re-opened and that schools must be fully open in September. We must get cancer treatment and other major disease treatments and referrals etc back on track asap.

Just out of interest when I took my missus to work this morning, a 5 mile drive to Bromley she counted the number of bus drivers travelling opposite us that were wearing masks. Total? 5 out of 17. Khanage keeps banging on about mandatory wearing of masks, perhaps he should start with TfL staff...

Secondly, the masks (apart from FFP2 and FFP3) are not preventing anything and only very, very simple minds believe that they can prevent anything while wearing a mask. The only reason why I repeatedly post on this platform is that I am interested to inform as many people as possible about what is we/they will have to expect in the coming months/times. In 2011 the "Butthuber guy" had unfortunately chosen an unfavourable nickname which I would have liked to change many times but wasn´t technically possible. Apart from that I do appreciated that the tone on this forum seems to change and some people (like yourself) do take into consideration that there may be some truth in what I repeatedly try to tell the fellow R´s. With holes in. You'd expect them to give a lead in wearing them after the stink their union kicked up. It's the same in stores, she said roughly a third of customers not wearing them as well. Seems a lot of people don't give a toss...

I think you are putting words into my mouth - another fabrication of yours is the term 'Khmer Green' which, as far as I know, is the name of a Cambodian restaurant - at least I can't find anything else under this name. The reason I wear a mask is not to protect myself but to protect others - in as much as if I cough or sneeze or speak then fewer droplets are going to come out and possibly infect other people - single people wearing masks achieves nothing, but a whole population doing it is a different matter. I wear one out of respect for others. By the way I agree about the illegality of the war in Yugoslavia and many Greens left the party at this time, and I was not a part of it then. I am interested in who you mean by the so called 'Khmer Green' and by my supposed connection either to them or to Baden-Württemberg as I have only ever heard the term used by yourself.
I you want an open discussion with people then the worst way of doing that is exactly what you are doing - namely to presume that everyone who doesn't agree with you must be ignorant or stupid. I am only a visitor to your forum but my impression is that most of the insulting is coming from yourself.
Incredible that a third of people weren't wearing masks. Seldom see anyone in a shop here without one, just the occasional instance now.
