absolutely I don’t care who scores them and of course it’s not a linear equation... you take Harrison, costa and bamford out of the side and replace them with 3 billy sharps, you’ll take more chances but create fewer. It was the issue bielsa talked about when trying to accommodate both nketiah and bamford. the point some are trying to make is we should have been easily the top scorers in the league but weren’t ... our conversion rate of chances was at the bottom of the league. We were promoted despite our finishing not because of it. It’s something we need to improve next year. Just my opinion duke, respect yours.
Took the words right out of my mouth, i was going to say we won't get nearly as many chances in the premier league, so logically need a more potent striker to take a better percentage of the ones that do come along, still think Bamford could be a very good no10 just not a striker.
I agree with those that think it’s time to move on from Ben. Too much money being asked. Get Foyth in for 10-12 million, Bielsa will improve him and he has been coached by Poch, a Bielsa disciple. Let Brighton play him and see if after potter has coached him for a year he’s still worth 30-40 million.
My thoughts are with you and your family 60. Brighton are holding us to ransom, as much as I like Ben White their value of him is ridiculous.
I agree with Wakey, move on and get Stones from Citeh, he has played Pep football, very similar to Bielsa’s way. Brighton are likely candidates to go down next season so young Ben Whites career might go down with them.
When you spend a record amount on a player its known as a marquee signing and even though I love Ben White is aint top draw. To spend £27m on a player I want a top top striker who will bang goals in as goals keeps us in the Premier League. Is Ben White worth £20m more than Paddy Bamford?
Brighton apparently in talks with West Brom about selling CB Shane Duffy, meaning less likely White will be allowed to leave.
Lucas Martinez-Quarto or Juan Foyth will cost around £10m each, so a no brainer to buy one or even both as International CBs and both do what White does and a lot more.
We all love Bielsa and I might be putting 2+2 together and coming up with 6 but Bielsa not signing a contract yet and Orta/Rads looking like they’re putting all their eggs in Ben Whites basket? Is this a Bielsa requirement, would Bielsa prefer to have Ben White in defence and stick with Bamford up front? All a bit worrying, Ben White for £27m (White - Cooper) or Foyth and Stones £30m? Just £3-5m more for a combo of Foyth- Cooper-Stones
So what, we finished 10 points clear of second place that sounds good to me. We will deal with the premiership when it arrives.
Wondering why Leeds are being linked to RBs? Matty Cash is the latest from Forest and another converted winger, plus we are buying the kid from Fulham who is a RB too but has played wing for England kids? Is Bielsa thinking about converting Ayling into a CB or is he looking at selling Hosannah.
I'm still reading this 'we need a goal scorer' theme. We cannot know how many chances we'll get in the Prem. We can only judge on last season when we won by 10 clear points, only one team scored more than us and they didn't get promoted. The top scorers: Mitrovic - up via play offs. Way behind us Watkins - still in the Champ Grabban - missed play offs Grant - fighting relegation Wells - nowhere Wells had 18, Bamford had 16. Who do you want to swap with? I trust Bielsa so what he wants is fine with me.
... a side to convert an average proportion of their chances not sure what you’re not getting here duke. I’m: - very happy we got promoted - but think we should have scored a lot more from The chances We created - which is supported by all the stats - concerned it will be an issue this season as we likely won’t have 17 shots per game in the premier league and if our conversion rate stays the same we will struggle for goals
they all played in worse teams, had fewer chances than him and scored more goals kiko Casilla played in the side with the best defensive record in the league.. happy with him for next year then?
Ok, the way to judge this, if how many goals a team scores is important, is to look at last season: Norwich - 93 goals - 2.02/game Villa - 86 goals - 1.76/g Sheffield Utd - 78 goals - 1.70/g How did that work out in the Prem this season? I am not saying that our conversion rate doesn't need to improve but if we weren't creating the chances I'd be concerned but we are. How many times last season did we play against packed defences? How many times did the opposition keeper get MOM? In the Prem it will be different
