Received wisdom has always been that Bournemouth have an EFL FFP penalty hanging over them from their promotion season. Does anyone know if that is the case?
I believe they paid £5m or so in 2018 to clear it.

<ok> Thanks DH. A modest settlement. Maybe the EFL has a scale of fines proportional to the capacity of a club's ground ........
Suspect they negotiated that when it looked like they were unlikely to be back in the Championship any time soon, so the EFL took what they could get.

Reading that thread, apparently relegated teams can sink a lot of costs into their 19/20 accounts, to get more wiggle room on FFP in 20/21. So unlikely it'll effect any relegated team, even if Bournemouth in particular have a huge wage bill and will rack up big losses.

Given the signings so far, there is some cause for optimism in spite of the PL hangover. The 7 new players plus Idah and Martin are on top of a squad which won the Championship. Yes, we have yet to see who leaves, but any gaps have already been filled. The exception would be CB if Godfrey leaves. I suspect that SW has a shortlist of CBs which includes a high profile player if he does leave, lower profile if he doesn't. The same could be true at GK depending on whether Krul stays.

The addition of Sinani, Placheta and Dowell certainly strengthens our attack and lessens the worry if Buendia and/or Cantwell should leave. With both Sørensen and Sitti coming in at DM we are considerably stronger in front of the defence with good options going forward as well. Mumba is another for the future, but for now he'll strengthen our RB options.

Rather weak assessments based mostly on personal whims which follow other personal whims. I do think we need new defenders, especially if Aarons, Lewis and/or Godfrey leave. Our midfield needs more potency, physicality and pace to replace Leitner and Trybull, should they manage to find new clubs. Pleased with the new attacking players, but if Drmic leaves, we need a potent and pacey striker to replace him as I don't think Idah and Sinani are ready yet, but hopefully that will come.

How would you feel if we replaced Drmic with Rhodes.

Strangely, that thought occurred to me while washing up the lunch dishes. I rather like the idea - a proven player who knows his way around and likes the club. He'd be competition for Pukki and very useful as a sub or co-striker if we're chasing the game. That wouldn't be discouraging to Idah and Sinani because of his age and they would have time to develop further.

I wouldn't have an issue with it.

Drmic looks like an expensive flop who doesn't want to be here. Rhodes is well-liked, is a great character to have around, and if he came it would be because he wants to be here, and fits our Championship wage cap. He scored important goals last time, and complemented Pukki. As Rick says, Rhodes doesn't block the progress of others in the same way Drmic does. I'm not too worried about Rhodes' lack of form in 19/20, his form before joining us before was no better.

I would also add that Rhodes in very professional and an excellent example to the young players. I get the impression that he's an excellent character to have around and a motivator for others.
