Fish and prawn gule with green beans. Sort of curry soup with roti jala (literally net bread - like a very thin pancake) that you use to soak up the liquid. Fish looks like it was caught 3 weeks ago but has just soaked up liquid. Simple dish which has all the aesthetic qualities of Ginge Special but amazing flavour.

Like the look of the bread. Something you can cook at home, dry pan or with oil/butter?

Unfortunately my maid doesn’t have an account on here (unless she is @Suckmyklopp - incidentally she does serve a lot of sweetcorn) so here’s what Google says:
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (150g)
  • ¼ tsp ground turmeric
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • ¾ cup coconut milk mixed with ¾ cup (180ml) water
  • Vegetable oil to grease pan
INSTRUCTIONS
  • Sift flour and ground turmeric into a large bowl. Add salt. Stir in beaten egg and coconut milk until a smooth batter forms.
  • Strain batter to remove any lumps.
  • Brush a little oil onto a non-stick pan on medium heat. Pour a little batter into the roti jala cup until about half full. Move the cup in a circular motion over the pan to form a lacy pattern. Cook until set. This only takes about 2 minutes. Slide crepe out of pan onto a plate. Repeat until all batter is used up.
When cool enough to handle, fold in both sides of the crepe and roll to form a neat package.

You need one of these for pouring batter but could probably make by poking 5 holes in the bottom of a plastic cup

Still feeling hungover from last night so just going to have a big bowl of chicken pasta and pesto.

Realised I don’t have any pesto so ordered some on deliveroo, the shop is less than 200m from my house. A new low
