I genuinely think they wanted the bad publicity off them, they can’t afford to be dragged through the mud with such a high profile.
As a side note I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Saudi’s fund something, whether it’s a super league or replacement for the Champions League, to obliterate the prize pool currently on offer and drag football into a whole new commercial arena.
