Global uncertainty stops them piling £300m into a football venture but they can still bang a few Billion into Carnival at the peak of the pandemic... I smell a rat. I genuinely think they wanted the bad publicity off them, they can’t afford to be dragged through the mud with such a high profile. As a side note I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Saudi’s fund something, whether it’s a super league or replacement for the Champions League, to obliterate the prize pool currently on offer and drag football into a whole new commercial arena.
Do we believe the Saudi's though? Something just doesn't seem right. He is. But he is left with an asset whose value may drop in value. I say may as it is obviously speculative.
Imagine if they went to another league, ploughed money into it to usurp the PL as a revenge. It is in their make up.
Carnival shares were down around 70% at the time iirc, and within days of them buying a chunk it bounced back a heap, that’s just canny investing isn't it? I make you right about the bad press for what was a relatively small investment though, not worth the grief.
I don't like the the way Staveley has miltised the fans , but its either a worth while play or just a revenge mission to get leverage towards legal proceedings.
It doesn’t matter what anyone chooses to believe though, they’ve said it, clearly, and you were talking about legal proceedings. If Ashley’s asset has devalued that’ll be due to COVID and the car crash that’s going to follow it, which is the same reason the Saudis have given for the investment no longer being viable.
Be interesting if this doesn't go through to see if their money is good enough to the PL when tbr TV rights deals are back on the table. Surely they know they can't just fail this and then backtrack in 2 years time.
I still don’t quite believe the Saudi involvement is actually that deep. i still think Staveley is suspicious. There are big questions on both sides.
They'll be back but if we're relegated or a better option is there they'll take it.. These people don't care about the fans it was a business venture... This is why I feel Staveley is wrong in the way she's miltised the fanbase... If it was off it should have been off and that's that.. I've done as she requested and if nothing comes it I'll be displeased... If its all been a revenge mission or a fruitless general custer assault on an impenetrable premier league
I do its just gone tits up.. People need to remember they're weren't expecting a pandemic or the premier leagues 17 weeks of nothing when they started spending millions to get to this point... It's quite simple Covid 19 and premier league stalling tactics Plans destroyed by both factors Just my view anyway.
KSA just give up, do they? Doesn’t sound like them at all. Yes, the PL are an issue, a much bigger one, but we need to be clear it’s not black and white.
I'm actually not bothered about establishing reasons or truth... The only truth is that Mike ashley is staying... The exact reasons for why are of no consequence or comfort to me.
Have to say, they are to me. Even if it’s the Saudi’s backed out because they knew they would fail, I don’t care, I would just like the truth about what did or didn’t happen.
