I've just watched another Doc on Netflix called Audrie & Daisy. Grim watching but compelling too. its about two teenage girls, one 15 the other 14 , who were both raped (at different times) and their stories. Both were drunk, passed out and photoed in compromising positions. Audrie was drawn on and had words written on her. at School she was called names and abused on twitter/facebook. she hung herself 10 days after the event.
Daisy was given booze then dragged off into a room and raped by her brothers friends! Daisy had a friend with her (13) who was also abused (the abuser admitted to it and was punished). after, they were both driven to Daisy's house and she was left on the front porch in minus degree weather and nearly froze to death. her hair was frozen to the ground. her mum and brother found her and revived her. one of her abusers has a powerful grandad and all 3 were the highschool football stars. Daisy was slaughtered on twitter/facebook and her house was burnt down.
I had never heard of this documentary until yesterday when, after many attempts, Daisy commited suicide. she was 23. it was reported on the bbc news website.
grim watching but, I think, young lads and girls should watch this. Boys to show how they shouldn't behave and Girls to see how they aren't as safe as they think they are even among friends...
oh, and the sheriff who handled Daisy's case doesn't come off well...the ****
