It was a couple of million, a piss in the ocean compared to the £15m debt the SMC has run up since.
Bartlett borrowed £3.5m, but I think only £2m of it was the SMC mortgage, but I'm only working from memory. Either way, it's still a piss in the ocean compared to what's happened since.

He was an Essex property developer, who provided proof of funds and turned up to meetings in a helicopter. I think AP can be forgiven for thinking he was worth more than he was.
My recollection is that Bartlett was worth precisely what he said he was worth when the club was sold to him. It’s just that his wealth took a pasting in the 2008 crash as he had a lots of investments in property that rapidly lost value.
