To be fair, I thought in the main, the government advised us to holiday in the UK this summer. Could be wrong though.
Also, most of the government statements about reducing lockdown measures have always included ‘if we need to reverse any of the measures, we will do so.’
Well, Grant Schapps has certainly heeded the government’s advice and is holidaying in the fine UK county of Spain. I wonder how many other members of the Government are being similarly patriotic

That kinda doesn’t answer my question...

Where are you going with this? The funds come from central government. NHS Scotland then decides what to do with the dosh. What’s that got to do with Sturgeon being responsible for the **** show in Scotland?

its cos they don't send them enough obviously. the strategy is perfect, flawless, cos the devolved government designed it. it's cos the central government are cheap, they ruined everything.

its staggering that everything good in these countries, Wales and Scotland, is the responsibility of the devolved parliaments, but everything negative is directly the responsibility of the central government.

it's not as dumb as HIAG's opinion on matters but it's on the same totem pole of ******ation.

@Chief will be delighted at this one.

Nothings changed with regards to France, and believe me I'm checking two or three times a day.

It's not great, there is still the possibility I suppose and next week will be tense leading up to going.

This isn't new news though, there was a throwaway comment in the news conference about Spain that they would 'keep an eye' on France and Germany, but there's been no proper hint since.

I've got it in writing that all travel arrangements can be used next year from everything I've shelled out on (all of it was booked pre Covid) so, if we decide not to go, next year is already sorted.

The idea that we then 'holiday' in England instead though, where it is very much in the main ****ing **** & full of arseholes, fills me with dread.

Rather be in France; nicer, safer, freer, waaaaaaaaayyyyy more civilised, than the simmering **** hole that is the current UK.

We'll see, week to go. I'm fairly cool about it really, resigned to any outcome.

Are you saying talking about Brexit in a lake district pub ISN'T your idea of a holiday?

I could probably handle a week in the Lakes but my kids wouldn't like me marching them up mountains every day

**** going to 'the seaside' in this country though.

Caravanning with my grandparents as a kid.... seen one too many mountains in my lifetime.

We all know that London sucks the life out of almost all areas of the UK .
This in turn Skews the the figures visa vie other union countries
Its easy to point to the other countries receiving extra revenue but what would have been the case 50 years ago if Scotland was independent and had set up a sovereign wealth fund like Norway ?

Iceland - travellers arriving in the country from areas of high infection are being offered the choice of 14 days self isolation or a Covid-19 test.

No hats I reckon

the sovereign wealth fund is such a small part of the machine. Denmark has no such thing and has done just a fine job.

the issue with scot independence is you need to promise things will get better, when things are already OK and then make sure Scots don't lose too much to view it as no longer worth the hassle.

If they wanna be like Norway, try and tell them how much Norwegians pay for everything. then once you've told them all, try and pass that in the Scot parliament. See how it goes.

Talk about the NHS being under threat <whistle>

yes but you said Scotland followed DSHC lead so why didn't they change tack when it was clear what was happening

There have been fewer than 2,000 deaths in Scottish care homes where Covid-19 has been included on the death certificate ... percentages can mask reality ...

Scotland did of course change tack by rejecting "Stay vigilant" and keeping "Stay home" ...

It's all relative to income !

I decided "**** that" to going abroad... figured this was too high a risk...but do kind of feel sorry for those that have taken a punt on it and now face either losing what they paid for the holiday or losing pay by having to take 2 weeks unpaid leave cos it didn't work out.

cant say I feel sorry for them...they took the punt.

They should have to stay in Spain or wherever else they are...keep it away from here thank you very much
