Little to do with self interest. The odds on us actually going were already very slim. The principle however is moot.

As I understand it the vat majority in Leicester respected the lockdown - whilst still pointing out how bizarre some of the lines drawn were ... and if the government had actually bothered to consult with local council it could have been far less disruptive (and nonsensical) again.<ok>

How do you know the vast majority respected the lock-down, did you stand there with a little clicker device, counting those that crossed a boundary line <laugh>

The weekly Covid infection rate in the Greater Manchester area has risen by 191% ... the government has attributed the rise to a corresponding increase in Pinatas and Sombreros being brought back into the country from the Costa del sol by returning holiday makers. anybody who has recently eaten paella or drunk sangria is being asked to self isolate for 14 days as a precaution.

    Stay Vigilant
    Avoid Tapas
    Save the NHS

No mate ... just happen to have family members in Aylestone, Blaby, Wigston, Groby, Huncote, Barwell and Enderby and be in a Whatsap group with about a dozen old schoolmates scattered all around the county ... was a pretty hot topic of conversation. <cheers>

So you can vouch for most people in Leicester, a population of around 350,000, have you shagged them all? <laugh>

‘The government aren’t taking this seriously. There indecisiveness is costing lives’

‘What? They’ve shut down the WHOLE of Spain? The over reacting ****ers!’

Tbph I think it would've been safer long term, to just close down Majorca and keep the mainland open. :bandit:

Anyway, I need to have a private word with Boris, so Fosse can still have his holiday, oh là là .

No ... just much better placed to comment on it than you, chuck. :emoticon-0173-middl

Funniest one was a cousin in the Groby area and one of our mates who lives literally just around the corner ... one of them could go to the local and the other couldn't due to the post codes ... that area of Leicester had very few confirmed cases and they had been visiting each other already under the bubble principle, including in the week that the local lockdown was introduced ... <laugh>

Had a few girlfriends in Leicester before going to Uni but nowt particularly serious. Did shack up with one for over 4 years when I returned ... prior to heading dhan Sarf for a new job.<cheers>

I don't think they've actually shut Spain down; not sure they have the power to do that anyway.

What they've done is, they've said "go to Spain, have a holiday, save the aviation industry"....long pause...wait a bit...let em all hit the Costas..."okay, when you come back you're going to have to quarantine."

To be fair, I thought in the main, the government advised us to holiday in the UK this summer. Could be wrong though.
Also, most of the government statements about reducing lockdown measures have always included ‘if we need to reverse any of the measures, we will do so.’

Because the decision to release 25,000 patients from hospital into care homes (without testing) came squarely from Westminster ... and as a hasty knee jerk to the goverment's concern for the numbers of NHS beds .... in the event, the Nightingale hospitals were erected and never utilised to capacity ... **** up after **** up <ok>
