I think he was taking the piss, it’s what Brits do when everything is a bit ****.

You have to admit, this is the worst government in recorded history. Maybe they do get the odd thing right - or slightly less wrong than usual - but it’s only ever by accident.

Bit of pointless comment then as your target audience won’t see it.

But you’ve already said that including the Balearics and the Canaries was bonkers, so you don’t fully support the decision.

All we differ on is whether the entire main land of Spain should have been included. My view is that if they were more focused on regions then they’d have more chance of actually making sure people did actually quarantine. As I reckon around 25-30% probably won’t, and it’ll be same ****s who have whined about masks, 2 months after saying we should have the spirit of the blitz. It’ll be them.......again.

My own view on the travel subject being discussed is that we are likely to be subjected to these type of decisions for at least the next 12 months, if the vaccine’s prove successful, and longer if the vaccine trial fail.
I don’t begrudge anyone who makes the decision to chance a holiday abroad, but it’s exactly that a calculated risk.

I do think that the Canaries and Balearics is a baffling decision, so you’re right in that respect.
I guess my simplistic view is if this was a water leak at home, I would probably shut the valve to the whole house as the immediate action. I would then localise the leak by shutting the isolation valves closet to the leak. If you haven’t got local isolation valves or no way of knowing how effective they are, then that’s the only option you have?

We’re not getting much leadership though, are we?

Having given way to pressures from the travel industry to open up these “corridors”, did the government give the public an explicit message that you travel at your own risk? Maybe they did, but I don’t recall it.

It’s been mixed messages and a lack of clear direction all the way through.

Not impressed with the leadership from any of the parties tbh. The jury is still out on Starmer for me and the shadow health secretary comes across as a complete ****ing idiot.
The only politician that IMO comes out with any credibility is the one half of the krankies, north of the border.

What parts are you impressed with?

That Scotland has one of the highest death rates in Europe?

That Scotland has the highest percentage of care homes deaths in the UK? (That’s the NO vote, surprise surprise)

That Sturgeon covered up initial outbreaks of the virus?

No one's listening to the government any more are they? Probably just as well, but it does make you wonder what they're for.

I don't even know who the Shadow Health Secretary is. I doubt if many people do. But it would be handy if the actual Health Secretary had some sort of consistent message. Or even the PM, if he's got time in his busy schedule, between been off sick or on paternity leave.

Very much this ... feels very much like we are being taken for mugs still ... total overreaction to localized spikes in Spain to 'protect' us when the stark reality is that we are still losing more of our own than that country is ... the cost to the travel industry, and Brits individually from cancelled hols, will far outweigh comprehensive testing of those coming to the UK from the spike areas or even from Spain as a whole, if you really want to go that far ... as it is, this smacks more of "we'll fight them on the beaches" posturing for me...

Is that why the Germans are warning about Spain, too?

The Spanish infection rate is 150% higher than the UK and it’s rising. I understand your criticism though because I would be doing the same if it was a Labour government...

You’ve constantly banged on about your misses being at risk. How’s is anything which could potentially offer her more protection being “mugged off”?

Before I say what I'm going to say, I'll add, I've agreed with a lot of pieguts has said. But now to that bit that I've bolded of yours. That has actually crossed my mind, more than once. Remembering I'm a brexiter come patriot, it really has crossed my mind that is what Boris or whoever is doing, the mentality being we are an island so can protect our borders. In principle alone, I agree with it, but in fairness, it is a bit of a cock-up stacking the Balearics in with Mainland Spain. I'm not going to get into generally zoning of the mainland, but I do believe it should be used for individual islands.
