You do have to question the board's ambition. Is it money, as I have long wondered why City cannot attract better managers than we have had, and watched several good candidates we have been linked with, going to clubs at our level, and of our size, or smaller?
Can't be money if we appoint someone who is in a job rather than someone who is out of the job, maybe he's just the better candidate if he is appointed?

It makes you wonder mate, have we got a couple of people in there who are a bit tinpot, if a strong willed, mature character comes in there with a determined system, succeeds where others missed out, these guys start to lose their little empires and Mr Lansdown might yield the big axe and back up the new messiah.

It's happened before.

I guess someone who has invested as much as he has is entitled to appoint someone who agrees with his philosophies

I couldn't agree with you more, I personally am a massive fan of Steve Lansdown, he is a fantastic businessman, he has backed various losers, maybe he might go with a winner, he has compromised before, nothing stopping him doing it again, just a thought.

I know it's a bit of an underwhelming appointment but for a lower league manager, Paul Cook's budget is pretty incredible. In fact, short of winning every league year in year out it's almost perfect, particularly considering it's across 3 different clubs.

Hughton is still my preferred choice, but I just wonder if Cook is a better fit.

I must admit I've been studying Paul Cook because of the publicity, his record is very strong, very impressive but it's all at a lower level.

We wamt to reach for the stars and Chris Hughton has done it twice, Chris Hughton is still my preferred choice but Cook looks good..

By better fit, I'm assuming you mean the cheaper option as we always go down this path <laugh>

Out of interest, do you know of ANY manager who has made it in the lower leagues AND got a club to the Prem?
Did Pearson take Leicester from League 1 to the Prem?
The late Graham Taylor with Watford?
Who took Southampton from League 1 to the Prem? That blonde German bloke?
Our own Gary Johnson ALMOST did it but failed at the last hurdle....
I don't think there are many who have carried their successes in the lower leagues up as far as the Premiership

This is such a lazy and boring argument. Do you think someone who has spent the money he has on the ground and team is going to save a few bob on appointing someone he wants to deliver us to his promised land of the Premier League?
