What is it? This fixation or issue that people have with wearing a face mask. Sure it's unpleasant and glasses do steam up. I suffer from hayfever but swallow my one pill in the morning. And? Can't honestly say it's uncomfortable. It won't kill me to wear it and it won't even make me feel unwell. If it helps to hasten the passing of this virus happy to do so. End of.

Yes, it's been that way for months whilst I've been reading and not posting.

Why have you chosen now to make the comment?

All the histrionics about quarantine, it was widely reported that the status of countries may change due to spikes in cases as well as it was also widely reported recently the several areas in Spain had locked down again. Frankly anyone booking a holiday this year can't complain if it goes tits-up due to new outbreaks...

Exactly why we're staying in the UK this year

Though given that we've got a week in Wee Jimmy Krankieland in late August the wheels could still come off

Seems a bit arbitrary though. I’m not really arsed as I can work from home and our version of quarantine is pathetic and barely enforced but I’m 1000 or so kilometres from Catalonia and in an area with a minimal infection rate probably well below that of various parts of the UK. The reaction of the airlines and Spain itself is of course going to be biased but it seems to have taken them by surprise. Raab’s explanation and grasp of basic employment law for a bloke of his background was dire yesterday.

My sister is heading to Lanzarote on Wednesday. I said it was high risk when she booked but she said she’d take the risk. Needless to say she’s now complaining at the government but is still going.

I think they could have excluded the Balearics and Canaries if they were well below the Mainland, the same may happen in the USA or any other country covering large areas. BoJo's dad got round the rule so again it seems open to abuse especially by those with the means...

    Absolutely.
It was well documented that the covid status of holiday destinations could easily change very quickly.
Anyone going abroad for a holiday during a pandemic frankly can't complain when their gamble backfires.

Probably the same people who were moaning about lock down not starting earlier in the UK, or others going to the beach / demos

Eat out, here are your meal vouchers but lose weight!!!
Get the flights going but dont go to Spain.
No need for a mask but wear a mask!
Isolate if showing symptoms, go for a week away if your part of the govt.
Is there any wonder people dont truly give a **** anymore!

    Crackers ain't it !
At the height of the pandemic, people were allowed to fly in to this country and do whatever the **** they liked. No quarantine, not even any questions.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isnt our daily death rate still so much higher than Spain's? But hey now you have to quarantine if you arrive 1 minute after midnight on Sunday just gone! You're lucky if you landed at 11.59pm, perfectly safe then, no need to quarantine.
What an absolute ****ing farce all this is! Just to prove my point, a family friend arrived back from murcia today. Saw his mrs going into asda about an hour ago!

People aren’t really gambling as that would imply there’s some form of win on offer, especially if they sacked off the opportunity to go on a dirt cheap holiday to an “unsafe” country like the UAE which has probably had fewer Covid deaths than Oxfordshire in favour of adhering to the government advice that Spain was all gravy.

Fortunately they need our cash at least while we have it. I don’t think they’d be quite so forgiving of countries less relevant to their tourist sector who had proven to be such a shambles.

They do at least temperature check at the airport and masks are standard now (governments actually spend money to ensure people have them, crazy) even when outdoors apart from when sitting down to eat. No sign of the Spanish equivalent of James Delingpole proudly outing themselves as a massive mask nonce so far.

Christ knows why they are letting Brits into Norway, when they wont let Thais in with a miniscule fraction of UK infections.
