Has the art of bowling yorkers disappeared from the game? Stokes has got Brooks automatically going into a duck, to avoid the high bounce, which means that the game is just crying out for a ball in the block hole. For me, he’s got to mix it up a bit. Hopefully my comment will see him take a wicket this over to prove me wrong.
No I get that, but selection surely has to be on merit. I have no problem playing youngsters in dead rubber matches but the object is to win Test series.
Well, that worked out perfectly. Nice one Stokesy, but the question remains, why do we not bowl Yorkers? Darren Gough used to be brilliant at peppering the batsmen with short deliveries, getting them stuck on the crease, then he would hit them with an in swinging yorker.
Fair comment . For me the ULITIMATE goal is to win the ashes . Time for a changing of the guard IMHO .
Broad is four years younger than Anderson. Just because they are thought of as a bowling pair on the field doesn't mean that they should be treated the same. Four years is a long time. Jimmy is 38. He's had a number of injuries in the past 12 months or so. Managing his workload makes perfect sense. But not Broad. He's arguably just had the best 12 months of his career. I also wasn't just referring to Broad. But to Woakes too. His average at home is so ridiculously good - and he can bat. (Sure, with six tests in about eight weeks, everyone will need a rest. They're not machines. But don't rest in test one! They've not played for months!)
Could be fun watching Joseph, and then Gabriel, trying to "defend". It doesn't really feature in their vocabulary.
