I've only just seen your result from last night.

Having been a Gills fan all my life, L1 is old territory for our army of fans, but it now appears barring a miracle on your GD, let alone a final game win, you will be joining us next season.

I believe Sunderland are about to spend something like their third season with us in 2020/21, which will demonstrate, even with money (compared to other teams in L1) it is no guarantee of a quick return to the Championship.

You only have to look at the likes of Blackpool as past examples, and how long it has taken Coventry to get back to the Championship this season concluded on a PPG basis.

I wish you good luck for the future and whatever has brought about this misfortune, may you overcome.

Just been warned anyone that wants to explore the darker side and depths of my home ground, best be prepared for a shock, our away section is a scaffolding stack, no roof and well pass it's sell by date. Said all tongue in cheek.

Not quite sure how the owners have managed to bring about such a demise !
The must think it's in their interests for us the play at a lower level with drastically reduced wages.
Why otherwise would you stubbornly stick with this manager ?

On the more positive side, I did have the good fortune to travel to Sheffield United when they were down with us, as well as Wolves, both teams now doing extremly well in the Premiership. I was saying to my mate the other day, I don't think I've ever seen Eaves just have a clear shot at goal. He occasionally gets his head on a poor cross with no real chance of scoring but that's it. Same with Magennis when he plays instead. The way we've played all season is so weird, we don't create chances at all. It's all part of McCann's 'attacking style'.

What is annoying about Eaves is that he just won't learn.to stop fouling people. Every ball up to him ends with a foul and no matter how many times it happens he just keeps doing it. It's bizarre that he doesn't seem to try to stop.

Yeah he was brilliant for us, a lot of fans used to worship Cody McDonald many seasons back, I felt Eaves was an all round far better player for us in comparison. By that I mean, not just in the space he covered on the pitch, but players like Cody, constantly needed someone alongside them like Bayo (currently Wycombe), whereas Eaves was more capable of being anywhere you wanted him really.

However, like all moves, it depends on how Eaves was used, I somehow doubt he would have been given the same free role, that we have the luxury of in a poorer L1. If you like, a poor mans Andy Carroll.

The Championship is a big step up for any lower league player, and I couldn't be confident, despite fellow supporters wishful thoughts that he would be in the same category of previous players of ours, such as Egan (Sheff Utd), Dack (Blackburn), and Gazzaniga (Spurs).

Actually whilst on the topic of lower league players, I remember seeing Maguire at Sheffield United when they were down in L1, how much did Man Utd pay for him, something like £80M I PMSL. Anyone that watched yesterdays game will know what I mean.

The problem with Eaves is in the Championship I think he would have been better suited to a 4-4-2 with some help up top.

I also think the rotation of Magennis and Eaves hasn’t helped as it’s constant stop start. Players need matches to find form, if they hit form then they stay in the team barring injury or suspension.

McCann’s raffle ticket approach to team selection hasn’t enabled any players to find form or play in a settled team. Such is his ****wittery.

Hoping the nightmare will be over some day.
