Cowley sacked by Huddersfield

In a statement, Huddersfield chairman Phil Hodgkinson said: "I would like to place my thanks on record to Danny and Nicky for their hard work and dedication towards securing the club’s place in the Championship for next season. That was the clear priority when they were appointed in September and we are very grateful that has been achieved.

"We all wish Danny and Nicky all the best for the future and they leave with my best wishes in their future endeavours.

"However, we have made this decision in the belief that, in the long term, it is in the best interests of the club as we move forward.

"We have a different vision for the way we operate the club, and how our ambitions can be achieved."

Maybe Hudders have got someone with experience of promotion to the Prem lined up? Chris Hughton?

It seems strange, yes they struggled all season, but just beat West Brom on Friday. Sometimes I wonder what goes through these owners minds when stuff like that happens.

Not unlike McCann's situation, they did well in Div 1 & 2 and maybe out of the depth the step up to the Championship. Possibly in a few years, they would be ready, but it seems they jumped, like McCann, too quickly.

They have done a great job everywhere they have been before Huddersfield (I wouldn't say they have done bad with Huddersfield either), and I think they left Lincoln in the Play off positions in League One which is a great achievement. I said I want these guys last summer instead of McCann, I really hope we realise the mistake we have made and try bringing them in.

David Wagner is only 10/1 for the Huddersfield job... I know he has a job in Germany but interesting all the same... Nigel is 8/1 Chris Hughton 4/1 favourite ..
