I'm paggered mate. Not seen a plate of bin scrapings from Schlem for a few days. Hope he’s not wasting away.

This balsam ****e doesn't kill itself.
Just had a thought, I'm sure himalayan balsam is edible![]()
I didn't know the jkw is edible. The balsam seeds are edible. Was speaking to a guy last week, said they have a nutty flavour. It’s not. Japanese knotweed is though.
It's the balsam that has the water in it. When I'm pulling it or cutting it down I'm forever getting soaked.Good source of refreshing water in knotweed, when we were kids.
Off down the valley all day, pop open a stem and drink the liquid.

This is some we were pulling today. The balsam is in the foreground on the floor and the jkw is stood up in the background. A stand about half the size of a football pitch.
I had a triggered Tobes tonight, no pics as it was very bitter with little substance

I'm a volunteer with the local rivers trust. They have just started an invasive non native species programme this year. The trust haven't been able to get started with anything this year with the lockdown so I thought I'd give it a go. Started with myself pulling and cutting then I've managed to organise a weekly group meet up and for the last two weeks myself and my son have been out every morning and pulling. Is this something you do for altruism or is it your job mate?
