Never a fan of his, either as a player or manager, but I hope he can R.I.P. after all of his ****housery.
He played at a time when football as a contact sport....and he REALLY made contact. RIP Jack, came across as nice bloke.
Yep I was a big Jack Charlton fan...he had a little black book iirc and loved fishing and a couple of pints..Guinness?

He epitomised the approach of his mentor (Revie) which was a win art all costs mentality (it made no difference if it was within, or outside, of the rules/laws of the game).
He would have been perfect for us in our current situation!!

I've always been appreciative of football's 'hard men', and Jack was one of these.
And despite his Leeds and N/C connections, it was hard, for me at least, to dislike him.
When I heard the news this morning my mind went back to a testimonial game at Roker Park.
I can't be sure who it was for be I THINK that it might have been Jimmy Monty's.
Jack Charlton was there as a guest.
He was introduced to the large crowd, they imediatly burst into a 'Roker Roar' but of booing!
Jack broke into a huge smile and proceeded to walk all the way round the pitch, smiling and waving at all and sundry.
Eventualy, the booing went down.
By the time he got opposit to where I was standing (roker end, behind the goal, halfway up the bank), the jeers had turned to cheers.
Well, it would have been rude to do anything else who was behaving that well.
Good defender, good player, good manager and by all accounts a good bloke and most certainly a character.

Really liked Jack, seriously underrated player, manager and bloke ...
... he was always in the shadow of his brother which was unfair imo.
He was blunt but I liked his sense of humour which was very Nothumbrian, no one could deny he was a character unlike Bobby.

I agree the brothers were chalk and cheese...but both great in their own way.
Wist Am, often say it was them that won the WC but I would argue it was Ashington!
