I don't think the Tory party will want him anywhere near the next election as leader and will raise a coup against him with enough time to get the new person in before the campaign's kick-off.

I disagree, I believe the reason why the Tories did so well in the last election was because of BJ.............................and of course Brexit!

Boris is the only leader of the Tories who'll have a chance next time against Starmer.
Saying that I have been disappointed with his leadership throughout the pandemic. He and his cabinet colleagues have time and again made promises that after a short while later are made to seem we're led by amateurs. It's been so easy for 'hindsight' Starmer to score points, obviously helped by the BBC.
Boris needs to engage his brain before any more predictions and show the leadership that I hoped he had and that we all need.

I have to disagree, Boris lost out on 2 weeks OF THE FIRST 6, and I said at the time , quite categorically that "how lucky we were to have Boris and the present cabinet, opposed to the disaster that would have been Corbyn and his cronies/henchmen. At the time the virus was just ravishing Italy and it was scary .. China was STILL IN COVER UP MODE and a few other countries locking down and doing their thing. We had to have a plan and stick with it, it was lets follow the science … it might have hic cups from time to time, but so might any plan we "unscientific politicians have and ours may be more disasterous"
RP I did an early projection based on population density etc BACK THEN 11 WEEKS AGO? we were destined to get it bad at that point .. the Italian and Spanish reporting was never as ACCURATE AS OURS, TV pictures showed the poor souls who had succumbed being put in mass graves..make shift morgues overflowing …. [ notice the lack of news from Brazil at the mo !!!] … we got warned expect the worst … in amongst that was the "herd immunity" statements and "sorry OAPS, we will do every thing for you until we need the ventilator for someone younger!!!!
you take promises in this sort of event as something that should be set in stone !!!! sorry with a dynamic like covid- 19 where no one can say they have experience or a proof positive answer you have to expect some will be "stretched" i do not think any have been truly broken [ please enlighten me if you think you can bring one to the fore :emoticon-0148-yes: ]
early indications were we would be getting back to some sort of normality come the Autumn [ with one eye on a second spike, the other on what happens in the winter?] Far from amatuers I reckon we have had the real professionalism OF A "TEAM from front line staff and medical /scientific back up all the way through to our politicians" I used to THINK Nicola was a real t**t, and Blackford was a total AHOLE... my mind has mellowed regarding Nicola [ only for her handling of the pandemic ] and for Blackford it has hardened … a self centred bitter person always trying to out point Boris and the government a total AHOLE.

Can we assume Sterling, Southgate & Co will be boycotting the Qatar World Cup.
They surely know the stadiums were all built with modern slave labour.

To be fair lots of footballers have talked about it haven't they? I don't know what sort of contractual obligations they have but if it's true that hundreds have actually died from it then everyone should boycott it really... Maybe it's just me but it won't feel the same having a World Cup there anyway will it?

Can't imagine even a good World Cup there ever creating the same nostalgic feeling like Italia 90 or France 98 or even any of the last couple.

I'd agree if they call it out but then still play it's pretty hypocritical. Not sure the same applies to Hamilton at Mercedes mind.

We all know that the WC should never have been awarded to Qatar to start with, but corruption and backhanders within FIFA and the bidding nations probably worked the oracle. Totally ridiculous and undeserving for Qatar for it to be held there.

Don't really care what the likes of Sterling and Hamilton do or say, I cant stand either of them and that is nothing to do with their colour, more their vanity and some of their actions over the years.

Marcus Rashford on the other hand has been fantastic representative for the Premiership.

Their social activism stops short of their sponsors. Nike will profit from the world cup. Nike profit from sweatshop labour, child labour and workers having no or little rights at all.

The players make profits from and get lavish sponsorship deals from Nike.

    Why ?
    Slave labour is slave labour.
    Please tell me the difference.

Because Mercedes' slave labour was 80 years ago. It's a time from which they do not identify, do not celebrate and have tried to move on from. Nothing about Mercedes today reflects Mercedes during that time. Just in the same way Germany has moved on to a (more than) respectable country.

    Qatar's slave labour is now.

So should we dump all Mercedes badges and anything to do with Mercedes into the harbour? That seems the way to deal with past history!

And I have to put up with it.

So did I but I assumed it would be pretty obvious why there is a distinction!

Mercedes did things that they are not proud of, and they do not celebrate it. Having a statue of a slave trader is celebrating that man. That's the difference. Actually I'd go as far as to say they are absolutely nothing alike.

    And while I'm on....
I can't stand the phrase 'take/taking the knee''. It really grates as does seeing Starmer and his lot taking photo opportunities every time they can.
I can't explain my feelings logically but if they have to would much prefer calling it kneel/kneeling down.
