Counter Terrorism Policing can now confirm that the stabbing incident that happened in Reading last night (20/6), has now been declared a terrorist incident.
Officers from Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) have been working closely with Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Department throughout the night.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Dean Haydon, Senior National Coordinator for the Counter Terrorism Policing network, has this morning declared the incident a terrorist incident, and CTPSE will be taking over the investigation.
A 25-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder last night, remains in police custody at this time.

Counter Terrorism Policing will make a further statement later today.

This is a double edged sword.

Mobile phone footage is increasingly used as evidence by the police.

If people were banned from sharing they wouldn't be so keen to whip their phones out.

I have the handy knack of sensing trouble so will often start filming in the street if I get a sniff.

It’s an evil thing to do with no thought for the families. The only motivation I can think of is a self gratifying one that they actually believe that people will be envious of them for being “ the one who was there, who got the moment” , that they’ll be admired .

Risk also rises further if you live in central London compared to Chester-Le-Street. Stats can be relatively meaningless in this way particularly with this 'broad brush' approach.

Yet it is true we are living in the most peaceful time in history, what is also true is that larger groups of organised people ie a city, does not equate to more violence (by number: yes, by proportion to population size: no), I concede the odds of a serious incident are higher in New York than New Zealand, nevertheless 'You've never had it so good'

Terrorism is perpetrated to make people irrationally fearful, that's the whole point.

People always use this argument that you can just as easily be hit by a bus, struck by lightening, mauled to death by dogs.

I'd be horrified if the media wasn't reporting innocent people being attacked by terrorists in the park.

It's the terrorists that frighten people, not the papers.

Try making the same argument from 2017-2020 and the picture will look completely different, "there are lies damned lies and statistics". A sample size can nearly always be manipulated to make a point.
