Yeah VAR probably should have intervened - I think it just caught everyone by complete surprise and by the time anyone realised it was too late.

Does that mean that it wasn’t switched on? Do the officials/someone in authority not check that the system is actually working as it should, prior to starting the match? And have we now become so accustomed to, what is generally a foolproof system working that the linesman no longer looks out for the ball crossing the line? There was clear daylight between the keeper’s hand and the goalpost.
