He was quite a character, you always knew it was the end of the night at the Silhouette on Spring Bank, as it always finished with Twaddles stood on a table singing New York, New York. He started with the line 'start spreading your legs'...
I still don't know where I recognise him from, but. RIP Twaddles.

His dad had The Holderness pub on Witham for years, he was probably the first proper camp person I ever met,

Singer Ricky Valance has passed away 84, first Welsh person to have a number 1 UK hit in 1960. RIP
I had to make a double take when I saw your post John.
First, I thought didn't Ritchie Valens die with Buddy Holly in '59 ? Big hit with "La Bamba".

Secondly, I thought didn't Ray Peterson have a hit with "Tell Laura I Love Her " ?
He did (later) in the U.S. but Decca decided not to release Peterson's version in the UK because they deemed it was "tasteless". and dumped 25k copies of the disk. A cover version by Ricky Valance on the Columbia label was released instead.
I only recall the Peterson version - must have been through Radio Luxembourg I suppose. Think it reached the top 10 in the US.
There's hardly any difference ( to my ears anyway) in the two recordings. Mind you, it's been 60 years since I first heard the song !
