Australia is one of the worlds most racist countries, remember being at the airport in Christchurch NZ going to Brisbane, me and the wife forgot to get visas, it's OK said the lady at check in, for 30 dollars we can do it on line, you're lucky you don't come from a black country or you wouldn't be going she said.
This disturbed me and when we got to Brisbane I went to get a car hire, the owner happened to be an Aussie but of Indian decent, I told him, what had happened to us and what was said at the Airport, he told me that despite him being an Aussie his parents couldn't get a holiday visa to visit him from India.
I refer you to a previous discussion about this very same post

Just tor clarity, which dumb fks are we talking about here? The BLM protestors out yesterday or the right-wing don't-touch-our-statues protestors attacking the cops today?
Davy my friend, we have met and I would be disappointed if you categorised me as a BLM supporter, don’t get me wrong lives do matter BUT when they kill each other nothing is said, a white does it all hell breaks loose, hope that clarifies the matter.

Anyone protesting, rioting, causing trouble I haven’t got time for. A group of black people protested last week, they vandalised monuments and attacked police. They were still classed as BLM protesters yet many were far left and Antifa.

This week a group of white lads all around the country set out to protect those monuments that the police had failed to protect last week, these lads were also fuelled with anger by the media.

Some turned nasty, just the same as some did last week, they were called far right thugs. I’ve no problem with that but why were the black ones last week not described as Left wing thugs?

This entire BLM thing has divided the country and the powers that be are misjudging the mood of the country. I don’t want to see players with BLM on their shirts, I won’t ever take the knee, forget his colour if George Floyd had pointed a gun at your pregnant daughter or wife’s stomach how would you be feeling right now? Pretty pleased he was dead?

The problem is heavy handed policing in America, it is there problem let it stay there

he’d like to play on the right but it’s a bit crowded there on team not606.

Chesh hugging the touch line with Olof on the overlap. Even our keeper plays out there, using his special Birdseye view.

They get plenty of crosses in but consistently wide of the mark.

more Gary Kelly than lash I’d say.:emoticon-0105-wink:
The only things I lash are the pints and I'm not even doing that at the present...<ok>

Democracy is great but sometimes the authorities just have to do the right thing. For example 20-30 years ago a statue of Sir Jimmy Saville OBE etc would have been perfectly acceptable, to most people, now, probably not. It depends what lens you look at history through. The statues being removed now were revered people in their time but not now, times have moved on and these static monuments to a moment in history probably need to change, preserved yes, but updated in a peaceful and rational way.
I disagree, they aren't being taken down for the right reasons IMO and if you use your logic, then why are their plaques and memorials celebrating Black Panther terrorists and South African terrorists still around. I don't believe we live in an equal society, not when the press and entertainment businesses fawn over these people.<ok>

One day a terrorist the next a freedom fighter, it's what happens. These people are the same as those people and we are all just people.

Watched a program, only about a week ago, about a guy called Cecil Rhodes, yes the very same one. Showed his grave, wasn't vanderlised, wasn't spray painted on, and guess where it was, smack bang in the middle of what used to be Rhodesia, as I watched the program it became apparent why it hadn't been damaged, the last major roads, the rail network, nearly all the countries infrastructure was built by him, the country used to be known as the bread basket of Africa, because not only did they feed themselves, but they fed half the countries in Africa. Now they have independance, no new rail, roads, transportation and they have lost millions to starvation.
It's ironic the Black people in Oxford want to damage his History, while the people in Zimbabwe don't.

So take down the statue because of their past misdemeanors, just like the statues that were linked to slavery. There's no point Eric, it's like talking to Glory, it's endless and we aren't going to agree so I'm leaving it. <ok>

Not a fair comparison, when Colston was trading in slaves it was legal and carried out all over the world. He did nothing to break the law, he did what was acceptable at the time. Saville broke the law and did something that was never acceptable.

But he didn’t did he?

It’s irrelevant who he was or what he had done illegally in the past, unless you think cops should be prosecutor, judge, jury and executioner!

Such bullsh**! Really.

Yes that's true, would be like looting, killing and blaming all cops for the actions of four cops. Ow hang on.

Was what the copper did right or wrong? Obviously wrong but he has been arrested and faces charges.

I’m just pointing out it wasn’t some innocent guy that was unfortunately killed, it was an evil bloke with a large criminal record, 5 stints in prison, he was high on fentanyl and trying to pay for goods with dodgy money hence why the police were called.

He didn’t just hold a gun to a pregnant woman’s stomach whilst robbing her home, he struck her over the head. I agree the copper should not be judge, juror and executioner but it’s a rampant problem in the USA.
