Yes - close enough. Although many games had been played under floodlights since 1878 - oddly the first ever under floodlights was a polo match - this South Liverpool vs Nigerian XI match in 1949 was apparently the first to be played under permanently installed floodlights. Not bad for a Cheshire County League side.

Realigning the bones by manipulation
Plaster of Paris and splints held the realigned bones in place
The biggest aid to survival was penicillin which saved the lives of thousands if not millions of wounded soldiers etc in the last couple of years of WW11

This is the medal ceremony after the 200 metres olympic final in 1968 in Mexico City. The athlete you are referring to is Peter Norman of Australia who took the silver medal.

Peter Norman couldn't find a black glove for himself otherwise he would have joined in the salute. Quite the story their relationship.

That's the one. His actions that day cost him dearly - he was shunned by authorities and never raced again for Australia, even though he was, and still is, the country's greatest ever sprinter. 52 years later, his time for that race is still the Australian 200 metre record. It took the country 44 years to formally apologise to him, sadly 6 years after his death.

Cheers BB. An easy one - what do Folkestone Invicta, Bolton Wanderers and QPR all have uniquely in common ?

Far from easy this - the only connections I can think of between Watford and Folkestone are George Catleugh and Bryn Jones - and they weren't exactly heroes. Come to think of it, they played for Folkestone FC, not Invicta...:(
