Really don't see that happening. Wolves have money and don't need to sell plus PL tax too means he'll be £80m+
I like Traore, but the time to have bought him was when he was at 'Boro. We needed Virgil, we needed Allison - he'd be a luxury bench player, atm. Can be 'unplayable' in some games, like Zaha - but let's not forget that the season before at Wolves when we played there, Virgil didn't give him a kick. I'll say the same about Koulibay (sp) too - fine defender, but we haven't got £100m or thereabouts to spend on a CB when we're not desperate. If Keita id iffy again, that is where we need to spend.
Which of the kids will we see more of? Hoever, Jones and Elliott would be my guess. Still think we need that 4th top striker but much will depend on who is sold and for how much I guess. The market has to correct itself so the first few actual transfers that are not buy out clauses will be very interesting as it will dictate everything else.
Hoping to see Nico Williams at right back too for a game or two, and Trent moving forward into midfield. And, if we get a decent CB when Lovren goes, I'd like to see JoGo get some run-outs at DM: I really think he'd excel there.
Virgil had him in his pocket that game, but then Virgil is amongst the best defenders in the world. I think Traore has improved his game since though. He's like a small tank built by Ferrari, and he's added a bit more nous to his undoubted physical abilities. I doubt we'd get him, but I'd be ok with it if we did. Nuno has done a lot to improve the guy and I'd be interested to how much further JK could take him. He wouldn't be an automatic starter for us though, and that could be an impediment.
If it's not broke don't fix it. Trent and Gomez could be the top players in their current positions and they could form a great partnership on the right side of our defence.
Trent's always been seen as a potential midfielder in the future by the coaching staff, but I agree. Definitely for now at least. Besides, there's also young Jones who's looking more promising with every passing game who I'd prefer to get games in midfield right now.
I see no point in moving Trent to midfield. Yep, he could be a success but he’s already a success at RB with the potential of becoming an all time great in that position. Hes already influencing games at right back and I think we would be stifled in midfield as he won’t have as much space
I’m late to the party but it’s a real shame that we won’t get Werner. He’s raised his games this and last season and I think he coils have been a valuable asset. Pretty much an ideal option in terms of ability and price. unfortunately, COVID has ****ed up football financially speaking so I don’t see us spending any money until we’ve sold players. I also suspect we’ll look to do loan deals.
I'm talking about giving ourselves options, as it's obvious we won't be buying much. I still think we lost the 2019 Prem because we had no options at RB, and Clyne is a cokehead (he's off the books this year, isn't he?). And we struggled for a DM when Fab was out (and he still wasn't right when the virus came). Just options, that's all.
Anybody else heard we may be in for Havertz on a pay by installments kind of deal? He's a Klopp type player because of his versatility and is the right age. @Jimmy Squarefoot - hope all's well with you, long time no see.
It's something I heard verbally not seen any reports. Lots of players look to the PL for a 'dream ' move over the hard to break into Spanish giants. Doesn't Messi have to okay a Barcelona move
All good buddy. And likewise. haven’t been on here much because there’s nothing for me to moan about. Now that we’ve lost out on Werner, im back ...
Sports journalists generally make up a lot of **** with transfers, but this summer must be a boring one for them. Away from City, Chavs, psg and co, no one is spending money.
According to the Guardian, Wijnaldum wanted assurances for Jurgen Klopp and his coaching staff that he would remain a key player before holding talks over a new deal. It is thought that the midfielder's wage demands will not prove a problem for the club.
