You miss the point about innocent until proven guilty.
Using this German guy as an example he may have murdered and raped some other child and that’s why he is in prison. But if he did not commit an offence relating to Madeline and if he is convicted as an easy patsy in order to “close” the file we could be letting the real offender off, whoever that is, and he could go on to commit more and similar offences against other children.
We should always make sure as far as we can that the person convicted of any offence is the actual offender.
Moving onto a potential mine field and a different debate but what happens if you get the wrong person? How do you then say sorry?

I have sympathy for the parents and that I'm convinced they've got the killer.
I'm also comfortable accusing this guy because he's already a convicted child rapist.

I didn’t say you had said innocent until proven guilty. Well I did but I was being sarcastic.

The bolded part implied that you were not concerned about the German guy’s right to be considered innocent as it’s believed he has raped young girls. That was the part which I was addressing.
It’s a forum and people are entitled to say their opinion as to who did or didn't do it but you seemed to be suggesting that you were happy for him to be convicted simply because he had committed another heinous crime. I was just voicing my view that that is a dangerous stance to take.
