If Werner goes to the Chavs I'll be ****ing pissed off.

Feels like we're sitting on our hands again, back to the old ways where we missed out on players cause we quibbled over alittle bit of money. We saw with Allison and VvD that if we want to improve the team you have to pay for what you want.

My only hope is that this means we're in for someone bigger, can't afford to stand still.

Not surprised. The big money clubs like chavs, City, Psg and so on can spend their riches. We were always tight, but the current situation probably means we won't spend a penny

You've got one of the highest wage bills in the league haven't you? Higher than Chelsea iirc.

We also apparently have a higher wage bill than City. I wonder what the truth really is

I can't remember exactly what it was so might be mistaken to be fair but thought yours was 2nd when last saw it.

Would be no 'apparently' about it though as the figures would come from published accounts.

Of course. The same accounts City have been fudging for years. No doubt we are top 3 or 4, but how City are 3rd is ridiculous.

Liverpool haven't even approached RBL about a Werner deal yet. We've just spoken to him without their permission and unsettled him - pretty much what Barca do every year, although not as blatently. If Chelsea are in talks and we're still not, it's unlikely we're going for him. Klopp is keen and obviously Werner is, so you can only presume that it's a financially based decision.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that FSG are being tight, they've run this club fantastically on a small (relatively) budget but they're definitely ensuring that with COVID and the uncertaintly going on, they're looking at keeping us running smoothly for the future. Apparently we're not in the best of spots financially either and have a fair few payments coming up despite very little coming in of late. They're not going to bankroll us like City, so don't expect any major signings without lots of sales.

On a brighter note (possibly), rumour that a loan with option to buy deal for Barca's Dembele is being sniffed around.

Melissa Reddy reporting that Chelsea agreed to triple his wages and guarantee playing time. If Werner was demanding the huge wage hike then that would put Klopp off. I take all these rumours quite lightly. As good a player as he is, or any others we've been linked to, there's no particular name I want us to sign. You can bet that if Klopp wanted him, he would have him.

Oh, they can't wait to get rid. Dembele is digging his heels in though as he thinks he can make it there.

Regardless, we were enquiring about him not so long ago. Wouldn't be my pick tbh.
Wasn't that a couple of summers ago, before the latest round of injuries he's had. And we went for Shaq instead, cause he was cheaper

Frankly the lad is finished unless he can complete a full season without a serious injury.
He's another Andy Carroll or Aquilani. They find a club who has delusions of being a big club and are willing to pay for them to play 5-10 games a season.

Both Alison and VVD were rumoured for a long time before we actually got them, especially the latter where we had to wait six months because we tapped him up!

I 100% trust Klopp and the Liverpool board
