Let’s hope the last line of Piskie’s post calms Brb down after he has read the previous paragraph or Sucky might end up gettin banned

Piskie just constantly talks bolloxs, it's all well and good having advice and opinions when he lives the life of a recluse, down on the end of our little island. However, most of us have to work within reality and something called a national population. I guess he just don't have any coconuts to talk to in his castaway, so he comes on here with his dribble instead. Best chance he'll see of a spike in infection or even a looter, is if a fooking hedgehog squeezes under his fence.

I can't see how you can open up huge swathes of the economy without a spike in infections, it's kind of obvious that when more people start mixing, especially in close contact, that infections are going to rise.

The drive to get the economy going again is beginning to outweigh the need to protect health imo. I get it that you can't let the economy crash and burn, but personally I won't be taking any risks around this. And I say that from a privileged position in that I don't have to rush back to work and can therefore home school my daughter and take my time with this.

That's not a choice that a lot of people have the luxury of having.

Lets be honest, our lockdown was piss poor compared to other countries. The delay and failure to mandate masks are the two that stand out most.

If it's true we are still at 5-10,000 infections per day then the tracing procedures have no chance of keeping up with the spread. The numbers need to be in the hundreds before some form of normality can safely resume.

Where are you getting that figure of 5-10,000 infections per day from?

I think he talks a lot of sense..... Maybe you have an issue with him because he has a different opinion.

debate is based on different opinions so I see it as a healthy situation between each and every one of us.

Pity the political class couldn't do the same without the lies and regurgitation of Greek scholars

Out of interest, how much longer can you survive without your business running and once the mortgage holiday stops (or has it already)?

Not having a go here btw mate, just wondering at what point it all becomes a serious issue for you.

I've been working throughout the pandemic. But only the online part of my business, so it's just about kept me ticking over. My mortgage holiday ends in August and by that time I expect I'll be back to 'physical' work too. I've managed to carve out a life for myself down here that doesn't require big finance to keep it going, so I've got some breathing room.

I've lived in Cities and had a 'career' with a big wage and all the trappings that go with it, and I've also lived in pretty much abject poverty, when I've had nothing and really been up against it. So I understand the situation from both sides and I appreciate that some people don't have the luxury of choice as I do.

The problem is, people talk about the economy as it's something that only affects the government and not the people. The economy is people's livelihoods ultimately.

Yep, it's a difficult balance to juggle. Also as we were speaking about the other day, there are huge social and psychological issues around the lockdown regarding people's mental health, domestic violence, child abuse, etc and just the general wearing down of people's spirits by being isolated from friends and family etc.

You, lecturing me on opinions! <laugh>

Ex QC, he's used to wringing out the truth from liars and doing it in an unflustered way.

Did you see how he led him up the path, about support and when Johnson said he hadn't given any, so Starmer produced a private letter of support, to which Johnson hasn't replied to.

Any money Tubby forgot all about that letter.
