Sounds very much like a Lamb Tagine I had in Marrakech. It was just like a spicy soup full of chickpeas and bones. Not great.
This has given me an idea. A Stifado style pie. Its slow cooked beef, why not? I'll get the Missus on it right away.
Order chops or steak in Greece and it's almost always served with potatoes and rice. I went on holiday to Ios once and there was a woman that served traditional souvlaki out of her kitchen window, it cost almost nothing and was one of the best things I've ever eaten, we lived off it for a week.
