67 million tests. We’ll be waiting a bit then. There are many people who won’t be able/shouldn’t be trusted to effectively test themselves, so we’ll need clinicians to get involved.

Even though public opinion is allegedly strongly in favour of restrictions, as things stand the lockdown is in slow collapse anyway, you could open your pub for your mates with no interference anyway. If we don’t see a surge in infections/hospitalisation in the next 3-4 weeks we might not need to bother with tests.

Your desire to live your life normally is of course understandable. But you can’t unless everybody else, or at least the vast majority, wants to as well. If the people who staff your favourite boozer are worried about reopening, don’t they get a choice as well? John Donne got it.

John Donne got it? Was he tested?

Of course everyone else must be free to lock themselves away for the rest of their lives if they so choose. My pub will be populated - staff and punters - by those who have already had the virus or are not worried about getting it.

Give everyone an antibody test. I suspect that this would show that a far larger number have had the virus than is currently thought. Then, until such time as someone is shown to have been re-infected, I think we should assume that if you test positive for antibodies, you are safe to live your life normally. Something's got to break this spell of terror.
No man is an island.

I’ve just read something in the paper, a long term (35 year!) study in the Netherlands has shown that immunity from coronavirus (not specifically COVID19, but viruses of the same type) lasts as little as six months. So if you got in in February you could get it again in August. Making the antibody tests of limited long term value anyway, unless it means that a second infection is less serious.

In another story a third of the population have put on half a stone or more in weight since the beginning of the lockdown. Of course making themselves more vulnerable to a serious bout of illness. Though I have never seen so many people jogging in my life.

Of course immunity may not last very long, we've got to learn to live with this thing. We know much more now, so should be properly prepared for a second round. Just fund the NHS sufficiently to deal with it - it'll be cheaper than paying people to sit at home. People should continue all the hand-washing, wear masks if they want, and distance as much as they can, but life has got to get back to normal - or as near as we can get it.

The Downing Street statement said: “Owing to his wife being infected with suspected coronavirus and the high likelihood that he would himself become unwell, it was essential for Dominic Cummings to ensure his young child could be properly cared for.

YET his wife wrote that he was bed ridden for 10 days!!!!

Someone is yet again lying!!

Piers Morgan super lefty C*nt, hypocrisy at its finest, the man that got sacked for lying about British troops in Iraq
The asshole is a bellend.
Turkish...I cannot disagree with you there in the slightest.
He has not/he will never be forgiven in this household for the Iraq troops lie.

But he is not a super lefty ****, he is a "anything that can get me centre of attention, regardless of the cost to anyone else ****"

Cummings says he behaved reasonably and legally.

What is it with these self regarding, entitled, egotistical, arrogant ****s? Is it beyond them to admit making a mistake and saying sorry? Crony politics is here to stay, a bunch of incompetent over privileged bastards looking after themselves. Although they will, of course, knife each other if it gives them a leg up the greasy pole.

60,000 excess deaths minimum because of these people.

There has to be a reckoning.
60,000 excess deaths because of these people, FF’s did you get an A level in ****ing drama.

I’ll give you that, on Good morning tv it’s more like the listen to Piers Morgan show than a news programme, he is rude obnoxious odious and a piss stain on journalism, and if Tony.B.Liars ex advisor I forget his name doesn’t want to fight him for charity in a 3 round boxing match, I, at 57 and unfit would love to punch his smarmy face in for charity.

Just political point scoring again mate based on you not liking Gove, or just frustration ?
Oh I ****ing hate Gove with a passion but his daughter had no right to get tested before any frontline doctor or care worker!
Honestly Turkish, if this was a labour or lib dem govt then I would be exactly the same and that's where a lot of people differ. Imagine for one second the outcry if Corbyn had travelled 250 miles to stay with someone despite his wife saying he was bed ridden for 10 days!
We can only question the government of the day. Remember, this was all a success at 20,000 plus deaths. It's been a complete shambles, everyone knows that but I think it's harder to admit it, especially if you were a voter of this party.

So here's a hypothetical scenario - Cummings' wife is a bit ill, so he decides to take his son away in case he gets ill too. However, we know the symptoms can take 7 days to appear, which is why WE have to isolate for 14 days if anyone in the house shows symptoms.

Good old daddy Dom drives up to Durham to drop kiddy Cummings off with Granny and Grandpa. As they live in the same household, it's doubtful that they wore masks in the car on the journey. As any parent should know, you can't drive that far without the kid needing a piss - so they stop off at a services somewhere. Remaining socially distanced from people, CoVid carrier Cummings takes his kid to the toilet, places his hand on the door in to the services (or any other surface) which closes behind him and is then opened by Joe Public behind him, potentially catching the virus from the door plate (or surface).

Daddy Dom then goes over to the petrol pumps to fill his car. Remaining socially distanced, he goes and pays, using his credit card and putting his PIN number into the machine with his CoVid fingers. Another member of Joe Public uses the same pump as Cummings, potentially catching the virus (at the beginning of the outbreak petrol pumps were cited as a super-spreader risk), and a different member of the public pays for their petrol using the PIN machine, thus catching the virus from the keypad.

So far, in his journey to get his kid to safety he's potentially infected at least three people - and that's without counting any actions that the child may have done. These people then go on to infect others.

It's a potential scenario which could have severe consequences for some - it's the whole reason that if someone in your household is ill you MUST stay isolated for 14 days.

I get why he did what he did, but if you're the twat that's sitting in on SAGE meetings, are helping to make these guidelines for people to stay home, and are aware of all the consequences that your journey could have, and then still don't care, you are a total ****.

No disagreement from me on that score, but my criticism in this particular case lies with the government’s unwillingness to be held to account and appears on GMB. They should, no matter how rough a ride he gives them. If they’re worth their salt they’d give as good as they got.

As far as I'm aware, there aren't any known cases of re-infection are there?
.

I have read of many, but the possibility was usually raised that they were never fully cured first time, test showing patient was clear of the virus was faulty, etc etc.

Finding excuses for Cummings. You’d have enjoyed the press questions today.
I bet they didnt get answered. More and more people are seeing through this government now. If they would just be honest then they could save a bit of themselves. But as honesty is foreign they deport that as quickly as possible!

The government or ministers won’t appear on the programme because of piers himself, it’s nothing to do with unwillingness to be held to account it’s because gobshite Morgan, btw a c*nt I could punch all day without a break and not get tired.!!!
