I think the jury's out on this until all the facts are known. People are comparing what Cummings did to the Scottish Medical Officer, Calderwood, visiting her second home for recreational purposes twice. She broke the guidelines, not the law, and despite Sturgeon's best efforts to keep her, public opinion was that she should go and she went.
Then there's Professor Neil Ferguson who was visited by his married mistress. No one made an argument that he should not resign.
However, what Cummings appears to have been motivated by, is having his 4 year old son looked after safely by his parents, while his wife and he had the virus. If those are indeed the facts, then I think the public will be much more forgiving.
Of course there will be some on here that will be foaming at the mouth and tearing their Daily Mirrors to threads with their teeth at this appraisal
