Regardless, I don't want to argue this over and over again. I do think FPP came in with an open mind and that buying the club was at least one of the options they considered.

Well, don't.

The point is that with many options there was no need to do DD or register a company at the club.

They haven't registered a company at Derby County and I don't believe they will even if there's a loan/investment.

It's obvious FPP were close to taking over. They then got spooked by something (my guess is SD refusing to budge on the price after they completed DD)

The loan suits them as its stacked in there favour and in my opinion they are happy to sit back and wait for SD to crack.

Thing is with rich people is they usually don't like spending more money than they want to and as much as we may not like it, they can play a longer game

£3m is far too much though. It's the equivalent of the due diligence and for a merger between two international airlines or similar.

Mrs says a max of £1m for national market DD/deal advice. She's currently working on this for a premier league club on a deal with a value at least 10x our club, and the DD is not in 7 figures.

Can your lass not set an account up and we can cut out the middle man?

Just thinking aloud really but wonder if FPP were pissed off at 'losing' £3m doing DD that their way of getting the money back, or part of it, is via interest on a loan hence the £9m 'investment'. I'll be surprised if it's anywhere near £3m unless, as suggested, various feasibility studies were done but realistically did they have time to have them done thoroughly? As Campbell was more or less going to be the owner through the summer I can't see that FPP would have been having feasibility studies done at the same time, I think they'll only have really ramped up their interest after Campbell withdrew (or Donald pulled out). So not sure these could have been done so DD probably a lot less and the interest on £9m would cover it.
Won’t be £3m. At most, and only if the deal completes, it would be more like £1m. It would be very difficult to spend that kind on money on DD. Now if that also included bankers fees on the transaction, then maybe. But again, the transaction would have to go through.

I get the feeling that some clarity about the future of the club will happen as and when a decision is made on this season. There are 3 options really, We play the season out and actually get promoted.... We play the season out (with all the costs involved in that) and we don't get promoted....or, the season is voided. I think after each of these scenarios there is a differing outcome, I guess we have to wait.

Donald would've only allowed them to register a company, at the SOL, if they'd asked.
Seems similar to the Campbell scenario where he was given an office in the AOL and was in touch with Ross re signings while Ross was on holiday... Ross checked with Donald and was told yeah no problems when the deal was still underway? Reeks of desperation to sell before the truth will out <doh>

Exactly. They seem to get carried away with any interest and it goes public really quickly, they can't seem to help themselves dropping hints and bending over backwards to accommodate or simplify the process for bidders.

It feels like if someone gets to DD, in Donald's head he starts spending the cash on a new house or something.

I was thinking the same thing a while back. As long as the chance of promotion exists, Donald will hang on for a bigger sale price. Once it’s confirmed that we start next season in League One with probably no supporters present, then he will need to evaluate his options and hope someone will still offer him at least a break even figure.

When is it that the accounts are now due to come out? That'll be very interesting. I have reason to believe he'll want to stay even if we don't go up, but if the accounts are bad in terms of the club losing money then maybe he won't have a choice

I suspect Donald can buy any house he likes without having to sell us.

I’ve no idea about accounts, but if our income dries up next season and he has to find a way of funding us, then that could just be the straw that forces him to accept whatever is on offer. Of course that could be just me living in hope.

They get an extra 3 months, so by 31st July. The Companies House fines are relatively tiny if they are late though. £150...£350...£750 depending on how late. SD 'might' be able to afford that.

EDIT: 30th July rather than the month end, unusually https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/00049116
