We are *****s ( we as in a LOT of the public ) .
Queues at the re-cycling centres , Garden centres gone mad , and a workmate went for a drive yesterday saw an ice cream van with a LONG q of people all standing shoulder to shoulder .
Utter Madness .

Do they do those maxibon things still I like them.

Talking about repatriation........we have had 5 flights cancelled to fly home to the UK from Australia. We have booked a 6th for next week then heard the news Qantas stopping repatriation flights we think from the end of May.!!!, luckily we didn’t book with them. By the way the single fare cost one way was over £1000 pounds each.!! Not cheap

Good luck, Beddy! I’m kind of wishing now that I’d stayed out in the game reserve, where I was totally safe and busy. Now I’m bored rigid waiting to hear about flights and noticing that any that ‘might’ be on are in the region of £1500 from Johannesburg.
Incidentally, BA 56 flew out to LHR at 0900 this morning ..... seems to be a regular thing and **** the poor bastards who are stuck in limbo here ........ :emoticon-0121-angry

Mate fully understand.........we’ve had to get our visas extended. Which is a costly business. Ok they have done a temporary one but have been waiting to have a medical at a Bupa appointment as per there instructions for 6 weeks. It came through the other day June 26th!!!! We were due to fly home before then until our 5th flight got cancelled. (So the £400 odd pound we have paid out has gone to waste yet again) Also still waiting for two of the flights home to be refunded. Add to that we have had to pay out yet again for the latest fares the whole thing is a bloody nightmare.

Visa extension is a bit of a nightmare everywhere. Here they tacked on two months of time to everyone’s visas about a month ago but that only really helps people with permanent residency. People who are stuck here on tourist or visit visas now lack the documentation to access key services. We’re under full curfew now and you need to book appointments to visit grocery stores. It’s a good system apart from a few areas which are struggling with demand, but you can’t access it at all without a full visa or residency. There’s going to be around a hundred thousand people relying on local charities and the red crescent until the government and embassies can locate everyone and plug the gaps.

We’re doomed. I counted 35 getting off this bus, and I don’t know if some had already got off before I started the count.

Not tempted to stay there until this all blows over then? I would be (although it looks like we might actually get a summer in England this year).

We were Archers.........but then they closed the borders and the international airport in Brisbane. It was expected to open again on first of June But the last airline we booked And all the others cancelled out. Even the domestic flights are running down our only other alternative...... non would guarantee a booking in June to an international airport . We couldn’t afford to stay out here indefinitely although we had thought of doing so.
