I am a scientist me. I love a good equation. Now here is one from national TV last night.
It is to tell us the Covid Alert level we are at, it was implied we are about 3.5ish

So if the rate of infection (R) is 0.5-0.9.
And the number of infections is (yesterday) around about 219,183

Our level is about 219,183.5 to 219,183.9 on a Covid Alert Scale of 0-5

PANIC....It is so off the top of the scale!!!!

Have to say that Boris has dug himself into a bloody big hole following last nights 13 minutes of waffle...…...

He should have just said that full details will be published in the morning and all easing will come into effect from 18th May...…..simples.

BTW it looks as if we will not be reciprocating the exclusion to quarantine those arriving from UK airports.....

Let's be honest, it was most confusing for everyone, as just proven by no.2 Dominic Raab on the radio!

On the bright side, the R number is basically irrelevant now. Keep following the science.

Then you get MP Andrew Bridgen not knowing his own governments guidelines on national TV. This has been nothing short of a shambles from start to finish, although the worrying thing is, we arent finished yet and we should expect more of the same catastrophic, incompetent leadership from this pathetic, cowardly government.

View it on a logarithmic scale and stick Belgium on there to make yourself feel better. Do not, I repeat DO NOT make any comparisons though.

Really wish I knew the Government's goal, if they really want to beat this virus we should still be firmly locked down. Is the confused messaging deliberate? Or is it genuine incompetence? I understand wanting to get the economy going again but the current measures (if you can call them that) coupled with people's already irresponsible behaviour is surely going to have us heading for another lockdown in the not too distant future. What is the value to the gov in causing more deaths?

Either or. To have allowed millions of people to enter the country unchecked and without guaranteeing procedures alone is just pure incompetence. Now the science says that they should be unless from France or Ireland. Erm we really have some basic scientists in this country.

I think it's more a question of following the money now. The furlough scheme has cost way more than was expected and they're desperate to get people back to work.
