People generally don't like liars and hypocrites no matter where they're from.

I don't dislike Donald and Methven because of their birthplace ...

    .... it's because they're absolute failures.

Methven seems to have little reluctance to criticise Northeners which doesn't really help.

And I'm not sure if you've noticed, but you're making my point for me. There would be none of this faux righteous indignation about this latest financial information if people didn't already dislike Donald anyway.

Its alright you keeping saying ‘if we were doing better’ - the fact is that we are not. We are looking at our 2nd consecutive lowest finish in our history. We have a squad full of plodders who have little resale value (mainly due to the fact that a lot of them are out of contract).

We can all say if this and if that, the fact is we are failing again on the pitch.

You also can’t play the ‘because of where they’re from’ card - think back to Methven’s comments about people from Sunderland not understanding business.

Exactly. I can accept people saying they don't want Donald here because we're in League 1, or because they don't like him, or because they don't think he's got the money. But it still doesn't change the fact that if our league position was different, or if billionaire owners had done something like has been reported, no one would have cared.

But people do dislike him, and the majority do not trust him. That is due to him repeatedly saying or promising things and then completely backtracking or shifting the goalposts.

It’s hard to like someone who is failing but is willing to say anything to deflect their failings. The unfortunate thing for Donald is that when he took over and people were sucked in by him, he couldn’t keep his gob shut so said lots (and lots and lots) of things in podcasts, which people remember and can go back to. So when he tries to scramble and lie his way out of mess after mess, people remember and go back to the podcasts etc and highlight what a bluffer he is.

It is not just this story about dodgy finances that people are showing this supposed ‘faux righteous indignation’ - it’s 2 years of failures on the pitch, 2 years of appointing his unqualified mates into senior roles, 2 years of (at best) inconsistent financial comments, 2 years of selling our best academy prospects, 2 years of the biggest **** show our club has ever seen

He wouldn't be selling if people hadn't already decided they didn't like him, so he wouldn't be trying to make a profit.

If our league position was better, if we looked like being promoted, if we had the chance to progress it would give people hope.

As it is we look hopeless with Donald and Methven, both of whom have said they want out of the club.

I understand what you’re saying and maybes it’s right for some people......however a lot were commenting on the inconsistent comments from Donald and Methven last year when we were at the top of the league

That's absolute guesswork unless you're Donald.

Whilst I can see what you’re saying with the other comments about if we were performing better, this is bollocks.

He was trying to flog the club half way through last season, he even had a potential buyer with him in the stands at Wembley in the play offs. People not liking him has nothing to do with him selling the club

Yeah, plenty of people have said that they were dodgy from the start. And I agree with most of what you say about them in your other post. Because people don't like them, reporting this latest stuff is going to tip people over the edge. It's an obvious attempt to destabilise things when what they've done isn't (apparently) illegal and might not be immoral (depending on how they deal with it). But it seems to me that people are swallowing it and allowing thar destabilisation to happen when keeping level headed about it would probably be better.

If we force Donald out, what then? There's no guarantee that we'll get a better owner.

I gave them the benefit of the doubt at the start, but the facts remain that the story we were initially told has changed several times and never for the better.

Then just before Christmas a half hearted twitter protest led to SD saying he was selling up as we didn't want him and more accusations of threats against him (that were never proved or seen)

The facts also clearly show he was trying to sell the club before all the 'protests' and rumours started to fly.

They have lied from day one and I honestly believe they hoped to have sold up and moved on long before these accounts were published.

The problem we've got is we can't force him to do anything, it's his club he can do exactly what he wants, when he wants to do it

Serious question mate, and I won't be asking any follow up questions ...

... do you accept Donald has lied to the supporters?

Unless I've missed the point, would Donald have let them? It would appear he possibly has his eye on the £20/25m for himself and letting FPP have the club for £15m wouldn't deliver that.

That's the million dollar question. He is going to have to respond to this over the next few days and I expect he'll need to clarify his asking price and how it relates to the £20.5m.
