It will be interesting, dare I say entertaining, to see if any televised games that are played behind closed doors will have dubbed 'crowd reactions', or whether every questionable decision, and goal (obviously not for Saints, but one day...) will be greeted with - silence?

Sorry if this has been already covered, but Sky are offering a pause on paying for Sky Sports, whilst BT are not. Unless you get BT Sport through Sky. Find both companies abhorrent, but at least Sky know the score...

I've seen one suggestion that Sky will "offer" dubbed reactions on their red button service. But no artificial noise on their main service.

Why cry about losing a **** a load of money because there's no football on. And then give it away for free anyway <doh>

Given the inept handling of the crisis to date I'll make my own decision, as will most of my friends and family, as to when I'll be going to footy or other gatherings, bars and restaurants here in the Netherlands or in the UK. We also started our lockdowns minimising contact before either government announced them. I'll need to have confidence in the test and trace system certainly not there yet.

I say it nearly every day on here. In a little over 9 weeks we have gone from no deaths due to the virus to at least 30,000.

30,000. The capacity of St Mary's has been lost in a little over 9 weeks. That is 30,000 families that have been affected. 30,000 people that are no longer on this planet due to catching the virus from someone. And the Premier League are pushing for a return to a sport. It won't reduce deaths, only possibly increase them.

Words actually fail me and for those that have met me, that may be a blessing.

No. We are having a grown up debate as to why this desire to finish the season is crude and offensive money grubbing by football clubs. It is putting lives at risk and is being done for purely financial and political reasons by clubs with dysfunctional financial structures. We have more important issues to address than whether Liverpool should be champions and who gets relegated and promoted. We could start with PPE, what is happening in care homes, protecting lives, what important parts of the economy we must help, getting a vaccine sorted, why are some community and ethnic groups over represented in the lists of those who have died, harvesting produce on our farms, etc. etc and bloody etc

I couldn't give a **** about overpaid footballers or the rich owners of football clubs and if Murdoch's financial empire is damaged and collapses all the better as far as I am concerned.

Let us show some respect and humanity to all the health and care workers who have died and not waste one single Covid19 test on this doomed project.

......and as such you would expect me to protect footballers and their families from harm.

FIFA have granted permission for five sub to be used in any competition which has already begun (or will begin and finish before the end of the year).

Granted, the PL will still need to agree to introduce it. But that's another step towards this lunacy.

(It will remain the case that each side can only stop the game for up to three occasions - ie to use all five, either two double-subs or one triple-sub will need to occur - but that's only a minor positive. You can picture the number of sides who make a double sub in the 91st, and drag it out as long as possible.)

Are we really so far down this one track line of thought that 22 people on a pitch supported by a few staff and officials who can all be tested and checked regularly is really a big deal? There have been building sites with more people the whole time, people jogging past each other every two minutes, druggies all over the place hanging out and robbing bikes and supermarkets rammed full of people milling in all directions. I don't think a few football matches are going to affect much.

As was pointed out a while back, for each match the number of playing staff, coaching staff, match officials, medical staff, TV company staff and various others comes to a total of over 300. Putting that many people at risk purely for financial reasons is completely unacceptable.

if you really think it’s about 22 people on a pitch playing a game being the big deal, then you’ve missed the point that several people have tried to make.

Are they really at risk? I cannot see it. Proper distancing, medical checks, etc in the richest sport around seem perfectly feasible. Soon enough real businesses will start back up. Seems like you are assuming negligence. I know plenty of people who are beginning to go back to work with appropriate distancing. If we cannot test a few footballers and then keep everyone else appropriately distanced we are all doomed.

If anything comes of this, potential, resumption of football, hopefully spitting and the emptying of the nostrils, onto the pitch, will become a yellow card offence.

Sorry, but you seem to have made your mind up about this and don’t want to see the bigger picture.
