Some good points. The social element argument though is a non-starter. This isn't about putting forward an alternative, it's about finding a way to keep the clubs going while fans can't go to the games.Only the maths just doesn’t work.
An average league 2 club charges around £23 a ticket and has about 4,000 matchgoers. Then there’s the food and drink sold, plus the meals and corporate seats.
Solids point about the social element being more important at that level is right imo, plus families will go together, father and sons etc. So if you’re selling a streamed game how many are going to actually buy it? A quarter of the average gate? At an average of what £10 per household? Minus the cost of TV quality cameramen, production and broadcast. It’s simply not a viable alternative for that level.
They’ll be forced to go part time, and will only survive then with the help of handouts.
Those clubs with fans who will only be interested in football if they are attending the games are as good as done.
