I took loads of stick over him.

It was always my belief that he should be a wing back rather than a full back.

He was excellent when he had a quick player, who'd track back and cover him, when he went awol.

M’Vila was the perfect foil for him. He played centre/left of midfield and would cover for him whenever PVA got caught out positionally.

M’Vila was a great reader of the game as well so he always seemed to make it look so simple.

PVA was 0ne of the most one footed players we ever had. I remember once in the Moyes season, he cut across the entire width of the field with the ball, had about three opportunities to play people in but because he couldn't use his right foot, he ended up pretty much wandering to the corner flag and then throwing his hands up like a plonker.

Genuinely thought we'd done good business until it became clear Short was bailing and probably keeping that cash.

PVA was one of the few bright spots that season. His attitude did start to stink - how much of that was due to how **** the team was?

I don't remember Denis Tueart (my 'hero' when I was a bairn) ever using his right peg, but his left one was rather good :emoticon-0105-wink:

M’Vila is one of the finest midfield players I have ever seen in a Red and White shirt. He was like having a finely tuned Rolls Royce driving our midfield. I’m still speechless that Moyes decided to not sign him and proceeded to spend more money on N’Dong the ****house. M’Vila had already proven himself to be a highly competent premiership midfielder. As for N’Dong... I have no words. The vast majority of footballing decisions that SAFC have made in the last decade are truly woeful. It doesn’t seem like this will improve in the near future.

I think the utter garbage who replaced him in Didier N'Dung has blurred the memory of Billy Whitehurts and M'Vila seems much better than he was in his mind's eye. N'Dung would probably make me look good (I am 55 and haven't kicked a football in almost 40 years). M'Vila. was competent but not a world beater.

M'Vila is one of the best CMs I've seen for us, goals have got bugger all to do with it he was immense. Him and Kirchhoff were head and shoulders above anyone else we've had for a long time.
