I think a few probably could have been in the last 40 years or so.

That's secondary imo. If we consider first they engineered the virus, then we ask was it deliberate or a massive fck up that it got released?

So easy to happen with something like this.
A person gets exposed to it without realising, incubation takes 7-14 days and at the end of every shift that person goes to the market up the street for food, takes the bus home, sits with his family, his kids go to school the next day, his wife shops and visits friends/relatives and so it grows.
7-14 days without symptoms and however long it took someone to realise what those symptoms were. Frighteningly easy isn't it.

So the next Trump / Chaos question is... if it was engineered in a Chinese lab and whether it was accidental or deliberate in its release, should China pay 185 or so countries compensation for fcking up their economies and killing tens of thousands?
