I agree with and share and share your concerns about some of your post but would add that lots of children are being educated...not to the standard in school... but they are recieving work through the post and online.

There is also a lot of mental health support being given by phone and online to children and families.

I do accept that it is not enough though.

The disability issue I would agree with you.
The domestic violence issue is beyond grim...I also read today that "revenge porn" cases have escalated beyond belief...what kind of **** does these things ffs?
There is also an issue about kids with mentsl health problems being violent st home cos they can not cope with the lockdown...that's why lots of staff have offered to work with families.

My biggest fear is that in order to pay for this public services will take s resl financial battering and msny will become even worse paid or lose their jobs.

But tbh, I try not to think too far ahead cos I have no idea what to think and it feels very stressful.

We've had a good few decades to turn our education virtual, if Hong Kong can manage it beggers belief that we can't. Teachers in this age of technology should have the tools and ability to be ahead of the game. Nowt wrong in parental teaching but it can never substitute for trained teachers.

We had a million people volunteer, there is no excuses, we are not utilising these people to it's full strength. Evey disabled or elderly person should be able to have delivery as well has basic care under these arrangements.

Mental Health is on its knee's don't make excuses for them, there are people not getting the support they need, because they join the queue as this crisis gets worse.

The government will talk about Covid death rates but not a breath is expelled on how many suicides have been commited during this pandemic, but those latter deaths don't matter as long has they can report daily, how fantastic it is that they have so many spare hospital beds.

But hey as long has people can buy paint.

I can remember when this really started kicking off the top doctor guy said they will have done ‘very very well’ if the death toll is kept below 20k.
I can remember thinking ‘****ing hell, they’ve picked a high number so they can high five each other about how well they’ve done’
Maybe not.

can't see it being under 40000* but more likely higher .

* using the excess deaths figure as that will be the best indicator of the full cost .

To use the excess death figure then that would need to be broken down again and categories such as suicide will need to be matched up against it as well as looking at any major drops in death figures for other illnesses. We’ll get an estimated ballpark figure but there’s so many factors to take into consideration I don’t think we’ll ever have an accurate total on Covid-19.

My social worker rang me on Tuesday and told me I was able to pop in and see them face to face now because they have all the protective clothing to allow it to happen.
