Brian Dennehy yesterday, as soon as I saw it, I knew the name, couldn’t place it until I saw the face. Excellent actor!

Stars are paying tribute to "visionary artist" Peter Beard who was found dead in woods near his cliff-side home on Sunday.

The celebrated wildlife photographer, who had developed dementia in recent years and had at least one stroke, was 82.

His body was discovered by a hunter in a remote wooded area of a state in Long Island, east of New York City, weeks after his family reported him missing on 31 March.

Changed many lives and the music industry. Was it 262 or 282 medium wave?

No chance of me remembering that level of detail - can't even remember how to spell Luxembourg <doh>

Used to listen to Luxembourg on a transistor radio tucked under my pillow at boarding school. DJ Tony Prince, your royal ruler and ads for Horace Bachelor's Infra Draw and Irish Sweepstakes. Listened to Caroline and London during the day. Pirate Radio is a movie worth a viewing.

It was 208 Medium Wave, if my memory serves me correctly.

Just looked that up, didn't realise it was 'The Boat that Rocked' renamed for N. America.

As already mentioned, 208m was Luxembourg but Caroline broadcast on a number of frequencies over the years, including 199m, 259m, 319m (963KHz), 576KHz, 558KHz and others. It is still broadcasting today, both on the internet and also on 648 KHz medium wave. Although it's broadcasting on just 1kw it is very much audible in Hull.

The ship Ross Revenge is in the River Blackwater and is currently only used for broadcasts every month as most programmes are from the land studios. There's also a Caroline Flashback internet only service.

There are quite a few connections with Hull and, of course, the Ross Revenge was at one time a Grimsby trawler. The whole history of Caroline and the other pirates (there were many) is fascinating and definitely changed the course of radio and music in the UK.

As a side note, Don Robinson was also involved in establishing the pirate station Radio 270 off Scarborough/Bridlington

Former BBC Watchdog presenter and cancer campaigner Lynn Faulds Wood has died at the age of 72.

Her death was confirmed by her family in a statement which said: "Having suffered a massive stroke last night and a subsequent bleed on the brain, presenter and journalist Lynn Faulds Wood passed away peacefully at 12 noon today with her husband John Stapleton and son Nick at her bedside."

    RIP Hamilton Bohannon

one of the best drummer/percussionists ever

played as a kid in a band with Jimi Hendrix, toured full time as Stevie Wonder’s drummer when he was 13 then worked for Motown drumming with pretty much anyone who recorded there

    Some list of tours!

Didn’t always see eye to eye with Kim Jong-un but dreadful news coming through. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this tough moment.
