And lifted from CI an article by karl berg :

I thought City played some lovely stuff yesterday and throughout the team they showed an arrogance and confidence on the ball that was delightful to watch.
We peppered their goal in the first half with several shots, when on another day all would fly into the back of the net, perhaps with the help of a deflection or two, but my point being that anyone who says Nigel Pearson picks defensive teams is talking out of their arses.
I thought the Bristol goal came from a blantant foul on one of our players from which they won the ball back, the header also looked soft from where we were, not that I'm blaming Basso who upto then had been faultless. It was a desperately lucky goal from the home side, and one which took the wind out of our sails for a few minutes.
Aaron McLean's workrate is unquestionable. He plays for the shirt and he plays for his team mates, and he deserved his place in the starting X1 yesterday after his previous two performances.
But he does not look like an instinctive goal scorer. I would like to see him running into the box more and creating space and opportunitys in that area. Having said that his strength and lovely little back heeled roll back for Korans goal was something special.
For me it would have to be Matty Fryatt in that position every match. Matty does run at defenders and drags them all over the place.
Waghorn ran his bollocks off yesterday which effected Fryatts effect as sub a bit because by that time the lad was out on his feet.
A cracking game which warmed up nicely towards the end when either team could have snatched the winner.
I couldn't fault any of our players.
Must mention the Bristol police and stewarding after the OTT treatment we experianced at peterboro.
No police needed to surround us or film the 20/30 upwards of City fans who camped out in one pub from 11.30 onwards, alongside the home supporters, and a very laid back attitude from them at the ground. Nice.

I agree with you, however people are entitled to their opinions.

Even if we played entertaining football, but didn't win, these whingers would still complain about not getting the result.

Pearson can't win in that respect, which is ridiculous.

    One game three posts.

Two give 'balanced' open minded reports.

One appears to go to the game with a pre conceived negative idea of what is going to happen. And then doesn't back up his negative ways with anything substantive. Just a negative whinge pretty much for the sake of it.

Agree that people are entitled to their own opinions, but Why do they go to the game if they already know how crap it's going to be?

Not quite sure what your point is DJBlack.

    3000 empty seats and .......

Clearly the above 3 posters did get their arses there. I didn't go but find it baffling why someone would set off at 8 am travel the full length of the country, knowing full well that whatever City do will be no good.

Maybe just another half witted dull negative arse that pervade our club.

i think the truth is somewhere inbetween the 3, it wasnt as bad as the 1st guy says, but it was nowhere near as rip roaring end to end as the others described...one described paul mckennas shot as being charged down!..take it from me he tried to roll it back across the 6 yard box to a city player, and literllay rolled it to the defenders feet, it wasnt a shot, and it certainly wasnt required to be charged down, should get a job writing hollywood blockbusters with dramtisation like that..
i agree due to our terrible record at bristol, it was a good point,..but the point i was making is while he might appear negative, he made the effort and spent his money, so hes entitled to call it how he sees it, id rather hear from people like him who where at the game, as they are the only ones basing there opinions on there own views, not those transmitted over the airwaves..otherwise its like giving your view on a meal youve seen cooked on masterchef..

I know this brand of football isn't everyone's cup of tea, but we've picked up 10 points out of 12 and look solid at the back. We're getting the results which is what matters, grinding out victories like we are doing is something we were crying out for in the past. I agree that we need to score more, we can't get by with only scoring once every game but can't soem people just enjoy this run of form instead of complaining? I accept everyone is entitled to their opinion, but if we were playing entertaining football and losing rather than grinding out victories like we are would those wanting entertaining football be happy? I think we just need the right balance, the ability to convert chances and put games to bed but at the same time not leaving ourselves exposed at the back.

This brand of football sees us create a bad full of chances every game and sees us keep clean sheets. This is probably the best football we've played in the past decade. Yet people are still moaning that we aren't winning 687476841654-0 every week. Laughable really.

Can't disagree with the fact that poster 1 paid his money and went, whereas I didn't. But like Masterchef, I know what a chocolate cake should look and taste like, and if there are 3 opinions, of which 2 have usually provided fair and balanced reports previously, I'm more inclined to 'believe' those 2. Particularly when those same 2 will often constructively criticise City when things ain't right. And no I don't know either of them.

Poster 1 clearly has a mind set before the game that it was going to be boring ... trepidation was the word he used. Surely with only 2 defeats in 24 away games that should be one of the last things the poster felt? And that's my point, the poster like many others on this forum and others just seem to want to moan regardless of how we are doing. It seems to me that the neg heads want 'entertaing' football whatever that is.

Remember Ossie Ardiles at Spurs when he went out to play 'entertaining' football, with Klinsman, Barmby etc. Didn't they play 2 - 3 - 5 ? Entertained ... scored loads of goals but in doing so shipped loads and they slumped down the table, the fans turned and he got booted out.

NP has steadied a sinking ship, and is gradually turning it around. We're now at the interesting end of the table, a confident young team, playing some decent football. But they're not being given a chance with people continually nit picking, to the extent that James Chester has to comments words to that affect on the OWS.

The negs heads / doom merchants .... It's embarrassing really.

I think the resident article writer on CI is called Nick Wood. But, as said I only listened on RH so won't comment further on the "entertainment value" before I've seen the match on tigersplayer..

Don´t CI normally identify the author of their match reports? Perhaps they like some of the people who posted are embarrassed by the negativity from the first line onwards.

The HDM are at least now asking City fans to contribute their opinions after each game for Monday's paper, they have had a couple of decent ones from lads on CI in the past couple of weeks and they asked me to to do the one on Brizzle, but obviously I was away.
