Had a FaceTime booked in at 5 so missed the briefing. I assume it was as insightful as always and Sharma carried himself with all the authority of a grapefruit.
So testing is key to progress. Today we have, allegedly, capacity to do 38,000 tests a day. Yet only 22,000 were actually done, because ‘we overestimated the demand from NHS staff’. FOR ****S SAKE. So now other emergency services and, for some reason, the judiciary can go and get tested if they want to. Here’s an idea - do something scientific. Find a community of, say, 10,000 people and test everyone. Then we might see how many people are infected but not showing any symptoms.
We always follow the science. It happens to be the science that you can do on the cheap but we always almost always follow it sometimes.
Tonights briefing...we are going to open a Vaccine centre in Harwell !!! (FH!!!) Sarah Gilberts lab, who are already getting ready to phase 1 test Covid19 vaccines on healthy controls, have already got vaccine production facilities in both Oxford and Harwell (which is 30 minutes down the road from Oxford). Sarah Gilbert, Peter Beverly and Adrian Hill set this up years ago. This is not you doing it you government @@@@...it is our brilliant scientists setting this up years ago This is the forethinking of MRC, Wellcome etc in setting up the Jenner institute. This is nothing to do with the current government, who do not want to waste money on UK Science. Yes I am annoyed, really annoyed
I have no idea, what do you mean by 'played?' All I know about Nawaz is that he used to be an extremist but has since deradicalised. He set-up an organization to help others do the same. ( Quilliam? ) He often talks about this subject on his radio show.
Yeah, I think Robinson or whatever his name was buddied up with Quilliam after he left the EDL. He used it to further his islamist hate agenda rather than the real agenda of Quilliam, which I think is a lot more measured and anti extremist. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...nson-quilliam-foundation-questions-motivation I think Nawaz changed his mind about him rapidly. Nawaz, definitely does his best to bring a bit of balance into Islamist discussions. As you know I am massively biased against the Chinese government so I am bit programmed to agree the **** out of this stuff. But when I read it I thought ‘it’s not so simple’. Mind you Nawaz is paid to sit around thinking about stuff like this whereas I’m making it up as I go along as always.
woooo! Hang on a minute chaps... are we saying that Majiid Nawaz the LBC and Sky presenter was an extremist?
My niece, who is a nurse caring for Alzheimer’s patients in Madrid (wrapped in plentiful PPE I’ve seen pictures) had the virus and recovered from it (after isolation) in early March. Now she has had an antibody test which shows she has immunity. The Spanish have an antibody test! But we have a plan to get an antibody test, as well as plans to get PPE, ventilators and a vaccine, so **** them.
No she’s fine mate, had it, all good, back at work. Positive for antibodies means you have some level of immunity. She’s only 23. I was trying to point out that the Spanish are doing stuff that we can’t simply by testing for antibodies.. Though they’ve had a mare with the disease to date.
