He wants premiership football but no one from the prem came in for him, so the papers are just giving a load of scatter gun ballshit to fill a few column inches and hoping some will come true, I expect the next thing they will be saying is Lambert will be off to Newcastle for £5 million!
Our league position may make any potential targets think again. We are going places and they could get on the bus.
It's a good point. Now matter how well Cortese and Adkins sell the package, to some players I'm sure we were little more than a newly promoted league one during the summer transfer window just gone. If we're still right in the mix for automatic promotion come the january transfer window though, those players will surely think differently. Actions speak louder than words, and to date our actions have been very impressive.

Quite simple - Luke Shaw = £12m+ add ons or get lost Wenger! Come on everyone - Arsenal are looking to sponsor Saints route into and staying in the Prem at this rate. Happy days! Once there we can probably keep hold of most of our talented youngsters
I keep telling you all that Wenger has a spying eye on here! Say, that kid Anthony Pulis....he's quite some talent! I hear we have a very hefty buy back price on him
It does seem to be to be a bit strange about talking about future signings. Although I thing that Fox isn't quite of the same quality as Harding and the LB position would be one that I consider where we are short of depth , I can't see what we really need to be adding to what is an extremely talented and large squad. The team has done extremely well in the Championship so far and whilst there were moments when I did fret in the recent home games against Brum and Forest where we were on the backfoot for periods within the game, I would question tinkering with a squad that is capable of fighting back from a goal down or period of pressure that is alien to most Saints fans. It is a long time that I have witnessed a Saints team that is so good that I wouldn't panic when we go 1-0 down. Best leave this as they are with "fringe" players of the calibre of Holmes and De Ridder and "impact" sub Richard Chaplow being able to be drafted in when the chips go down. Curious to read the comments about Wenger sniffer around our youth set-up once again. Never seen Luke Shaw play and don't know much about him but Wenger has really started to lose the plot. Can't see him being around next season - the discussion about Gardiola coming in next season as discussed on Radio 5 yesterday must make it quite interesting for future signings who may be victim of a new manager wishing to do things differently in 2012/13.
I wondered as well, aint the left back position one of our strongest positions? i also rate fox more than harding but each to their own.
Scene-a busytabloid newsroom. Tired hack "Boss, I am struggling to find any real news to fill that gap on page 27, 4th column. Honestly, there is nothing happening out there worth reporting and we're getting close to deadline" Sports Editor "Don't worry, just trawl through the Southampton FC website, find out who's promising from their Acadamy, and say that Arsenal are after him. It'll fill the space, and there always a chance it'll happen sometime down the line. Don't forget to sound really definite about it. Off you go!".......

Indeed. There is a difference between 'depth' and 'quality'. Regardless of their respective abilities (opinions on which vastly differ amongst us all on here), I don't understand how anyone can say we lack depth when we have three of them in our first team squad.
