The government has consistently followed the scientific community in developing their strategy to combat this virus. Politicians like ourselves are not experts in this field. If the wrong tactics have been utilised it should be the scientists that need to be held to account. I think a sense of balance here would be useful.

I've done loads of risk assessments when leading teams working in hazardous locations correct PPE being one of the most important factors. The NHS staff are working in unsafe conditions that wouldn't be allowed in most industries. It's shameful to say the least, it would be criminal in other situations.
I agree with you. Having worked in NHS procurement I am not surprised that some NHS Trusts have sufficient stock but others have nowhere near enough.

The scientific community around the world identified the correct strategy as being based on testing, contact tracing, and isolation. The countries like China, South Korea, and Germany which have followed this approach have had the fewest deaths per head of population. We chose to ignore it and our rate of infection is now among the worst in the world.
And you have fallen straight into the trap that was set. The scientists advise the politicians decide. They must have the intellect to analyse, synthesise and then decide. The truth though is that we have a cabinet made up of sycophants and raw rookies led by a an egotist who in turn listens to a control freak. This is the worst of all possible crisis at a time when we have the worst of all possible governments.
I am not taken in by their boasts of what they are doing and the statistics they throw at us. The truth is nowhere near what they are saying and it is interesting that even their friends in the right wing press have seen through them and are challenging their statements.
I have just listened to Hancock listing achievement after achievement of what a great job he is doing but when confronted by a journalist with evidence that some of his statements are incorrect he doesn't have the grace or the honesty to admit to it. I turned it off. This lot lied and lied again to us over Brexit and through the election campaign. They haven't changed one jot. You defend them if you must and believe their every word but I am not that gullible.
The worst possible government would have been labour so i disagree with you on that. Not including last couple of days the UK death ratio stood at 92.3 per million. with the exception of Germany that is the lowest ratio of major European nation's.
Surely Johnson owes it to his partner and the yet to be born baby to retire from politics altogether and put the needs of his family first. Then he can be out of the firing line when the Government has to extend the transition period. By continuing in Office he is putting himself first and saying "sod the country!"

If that's true then it's jumped a fck of a lot to in the last few hours to 156 per million. Not sure what that proves as death rates are a lagging stat and constantly changing. USA is only 66 per million - so they must be doing very well then? Nevertheless if we are comparing Germany 36, Ireland 68, Sweden whose policy of "do not give a fck" is 89, Norway 24, Denmark 27, Portugal 49 to name a few.
Not sure any of that means anything. Can't get away from the fact we're in the top 5/6 countries in the world for deaths, and belong to a special group where the next band of deaths is less than half that amount. We shouldn't be in there, simple as.

Those who have acted badly - in government, in business, wherever - will get their comeuppance eventually. Now isn’t really the time for recrimination.
Now is the time to make sure they are doing their ****ing job properly and they aren't. It is **** all to do with recrimination it is about is about leadership and accountability. You must never give politicians carte blanche to do what they want without being challenged and questioned unless of course we don't care about democracy and there is the rub this bunch of Tories don't.
